OK - apologies if this has already been answered. I did search before posting...
Page 48 of the manual covers "Triple turn signal activation". Can someone confirm that this is optional with a package (comfort, perhaps)? I don't see the described menu options when I follow the directions.

You have the option of choosing 1 blink or 3 when tapping the turn signal stalk. This is standard on all 2nd Gen MINIs irregardless of any package you may have. Make sense?
If you can't get it work there may be something in your process that is amiss. Or else there is something wrong with the car but I highly doubt that is the case.
Ditto with our Pittsburgh fan. What I have noticed is that, for reasons still a mystery, I sometimes have to repeatedly go through the process in order to get to the right option page. No idea why, but I can say that missing the option I'm looking for the first ten time has not been unusual. I've always chalked it up to my fat fingers and poor reflexes (not really), but now I suspect the OBC is just finicky.

OK - my mistake. The manual actually mentions it (of course, several pages *after* where I was reading...). The OBC menu is different when the key is in versus when the key is in *AND* you've pushed the start button to turn on the ignition. The menu option to change the turn signal settings is only available if the ignition is on and the doors are closed - for whatever reason.
But talk about frustrating! How about the BT voice command system... I'm going to assume that my phone isn't "fully compatible" because I store one number and then it prompts me to delete my one number when I try to add another. Whatever. At least my phone-stored directory is browseable on the radio interface. I just can't use the voice dialing through the car (even though my phone has voice dialing...) I'm sorry, I just can't bring myself to wear my BT headset in the car.

Took me a while to figure out why I couldn't access that portion of the menu. But as you state, the key must be inserted AND the ignition on. Why? No idea. Bit stupid IMO, but whatever.

Regardless of whether your phone is compatible or not compatible for Voice Dialing, if you push the Face Button on your steering wheel, you'll hear a *Beep*, say "Dial Number...", system says "Please say the number..." (the number does not have to be one programmed into your phone), the system will then repeat the number back to you, if it repeats it correctly, simply say "Dial Number...", system will say "Dialing Number..." and WA LA!! I don't use Voice Tags, but I've thought about at least trying to add some and see how it goes. Or maybe not...I didn't use them on my HH Phone I don't see the need to start now.

Agreed that I can dial a number by sounding out all the numbers. Unfortunately, that assumes that I remember all the phone numbers I want to dial.... BAD assumption.
Ideal situation: The car microphone could pass my voice commands to my Blackberry which has voice dialing for my entire BB phone book. No dice.
Next to ideal situation: I can program a second phone book (yay) in the car for just the numbers I'm likely to use in the car. No dice here, either. It seems to only store a single entry.
All that said, I'm fine with it. I didn't buy the car to talk on the phone.

There are many threads about this subject in the NAV and Audio Section.
Short story if you have the NAV then it is better than without.
With NAV it passes audio commands to the phone (only certain phones work though), with out the NAV there is a 20 Number limit and they are programed into the car. From much research we have found that again depending on the phone as to how well it works. With my BB 8330 i can only have numbers and names programed in the car that are NOT in my BB. Yet on one of my older Motorola phones that did not have voice dial capabilities it did not matter if the name and number were in the phone. So there has to be some sort of connection to the voice dial in the phone but unfortunately not one that works.
As for the turn signal and some of the other setups in the car the reason the key fob has to be in and the ignition on but the car not started is that these items are programed into that specific key. I.E. you can have your key fob programed for x-y-z radio stations and 3 blinks on the signal but your spouse can have their key programmed for a-d-g-y radio stations and 1 signal blink. now if the key would only remember what seat position i use that would be great but it can't do that as the seats are not electric, go figure not electric seats in a car in this day and age.

I don't use Voice Tags, but I've thought about at least trying to add some and see how it goes. Or maybe not...I didn't use them on my HH Phone I don't see the need to start now.
