Lost My Hubcap

I have wheel issues. I picked up my MCS one week ago. It came with the wrong wheels. I ordered 16 inch bridge spokes and the car had the S-winders. The dealer didn't have time to change it that day. They said that they'd swap me as long as it was in the next month. I'm planning to take the car back next week for the switch.

Issue #2 - I just noticed that the hubcap fell of the rear wheel on the driver's side. I'm not sure when or where. I washed the car on Sunday and it was definitely there at that point. This is two days later. I've driven almost 200 miles in that time including some pretty fast rides on some twisty roads, but nothing that would make you think a hubcap would fall off. I didn't bump the wheel, run over a curb, take any bumps. Seems like it must have been installed incorrectly. Any idea why this would happen? Any idea how much it costs to replace?

My thinking is that the dealer will still have to give me the wheels that I ordered and just deal with the fact that a hubcap fell off at their own expense.

Not so sure "about own expense." Stands to reason that they would, but only the dealer can answer your question.

never mind...i see what you mean. the center caps from the S-Winders.

I'd let them know and hopefully it can be worked out. If handled well they should absorb the cost, that piece shouldn't be much.

hope it works out.

Are you ready?

At least you have a car to lose a hubcap with!!

The obligatory whine has been recorded. Thank you for your attention and we now return you to your other non-essential posts. And remember kids, do not try this at home. I am a professional.

I feel your pain - I also lost my center cap somewhere in the first 300 miles. No idea where it went. Dealer replaced it. Also, you may like the S-winders - they're very light! 16.2 lbs.

That's one of my reasons of not wanting the wheels with lug bolt cover. I like the S winders design but don't like the cover. I WANT MY LUG BOLTS EXPOSED.

Careful. In some parts of the country that can get you arrested.

Qwap. I thought Skuzzy's post was gonna say something like, "At least you have something to take the hubcap off."

Oh no, I already got my obligatory whine in this morning.

I try not to push it. Well, 'try' is a bit subjective. I probably try everyone's patience at times too.

Besides, I do not want to associate my car with another car who is losing parts. Bad juju there. Karma not good.

Hmmmm...

That's the 4th MINI I know of that came with the wrong wheels (mine being one of them). Strange.

Bummer with the hub cap. The dealership shouldn't make you pay for it. Had you been given the proper wheels, you wouldn't have lost the cap they gave you.
Hey Skuzz, it would be bad karma to shun another's misfortune. Best start lining up virgins to toss in a volcano.......

Oh, I am not shunning his misfortune. It really is a bummer.

It is sort of one of those things like.....if you have a choice to park next to a Ferrari or next to a beat-up-1963-Falcon which has 42 colors of paint on the edges of the doors, which car would you park next to?

I feel for the guy driving the beater, but it does not mean I have to live with him.

Have I mentioned how self-absorbed I am?

Okay. I must have missed the daily whine. I thought doctors said that was supposed to be good for you. Off topic, but since I am here already: When you get your R56, unless you keep your seats wayyy back, I would highly recommend you get the seatbelt extenders (I thing Moss MINI has them) so that you don't need to stick your elbow in your ear to grab hold of the seatbelts.

I've noticed a few others getting the wrong wheels, too. Very strange. I definitely wouldn't have lossed the hubcaps from the bridge spokes - they don't have covered hubs.

I r 6'4" and mostly leg. Let's put it this way. Anyone even thinking about sitting in the padded-upright-cargo-divider behind me, is either 2' tall, or they have no legs.

Just heard from my MA about getting the correct wheels and the lost hubcap. He said, "Don’t worry about the hubcap, no big deal." Which is exactly what he should have said and reinforces my good feelings about working with him and the dealership.

I should get my bridge spokes on Saturday. I guess they are heavier than the S-winders, but I'm far more interested in how they look than what they weigh.

You won't need the extenders if you're graceful.

Your dealer should replace your lost cap at no charge. When I got my '06 MCS last summer and took it home, I noticed the bumper plug/cap/cover for the rear tow hook was missing, notified them and they replaced it for free right away.

I think that rules him out. Look how he stumbles about the forums.

You'll like the bridge-spokes. That's what my MINI had when I picked him up 01/13/07 (MC, not MCS).
