Several people have PM'ed me asking about the wheel and tire specs on our car. They current wheels are gunmetal (with polished lip) Rota RB, 17x7.5". The tires are 235/40R17. They do not rub, although it's very, very close.
VERY nice! Like many here on NAM, I'm on the seemingly neverending quest for the perfect set of black wheels with polished lip - those come QUITE close, although I may go for 18". I had no idea gunmetal is so dark, always thought it to be more of a dark grey; NICE. I don't know if it'd be possible to get a pic but I'd be quite interested to see what exactly 'very, very close' looks like. I'm a sucker for wide tires and I believe your MINI is the first I've seen with anything wider than 225.

Newbie, so I thought I would share the ride as my first post.
Some nice rides here! Keep motoring...
Originally I was never a big fan of the flame spokes, but on your MINI they look awesome! MY/B is an awesome combo.

The beltline is the chrome piece aroung the bottom of the windows which can be blacked out with 5/8 inch tape. You can buy kits but all they are is just the tape which you can buy bulk at http://www.tcpglobal.com/3m/3m850.aspx
It's easy to install but requires some practice and the extra tape comes in handy for the diy.
I have been admiring NOOT for some time now... the combination of black wheels/tires with the Pure Silver and Black top - perfection!
Are you running 17 x 7 Ultraleggeras? Is NOOT lowered?
Oh yeah - what's a black belt?
Yeah, OZ ULs, 17x7, ET37, in black. Not lowered, but maybe come springtime. From what I've learned, with the OZs, it would have to be a mild lowering, not a slam.

Is the picture of your car lowered with the Mach V springs?

I seriously considered the OZs in black for a while. I - like yourself - thought it would look cool to black out the chrome trim and other shiny bits in a play against the pale silver body color. NOOT clearly confirms my suspicions - that color scheme looks really good.
Then, Rota released the RBs in 17 x 7.5 et45 and they looked awesome in silver, so I have decided to go more "retro" and emphasize the chrome and shiny bits. Now, if my wheels would hurry up and get here...
JMCK--What does the OZ wheel have to do specifically with how much you lower your car? Is it the offset?
The OZ wheel has an offset of +37 where stock is around +48. This means they stick out of the wheel wells by 11mm more than stock and will start to rub before stock (or lower offset) rims will. It happens in the rear. The black plastic fender trim can be cut to minimize this but me, I'm just done with rubbing issues - had them before and that was enough.
When I ditch the runflats I may go to a 215/45 tire and nibble on the wheel gap that way, but basically lowering the car is not as important to me as I once thought it would be. YMMV...
