I did not realize that you could display all of the onboard computer data at once on the radio display. Menu button, then choose BC, and it brings up all the mpg and mph functions, as well as the opportunity to reset them.

I wonder if they will do it for free as part of the maintenance plan since they recommend it??

I'll give my SA a call about this.
They ought to since they don't give you a jack to do it yourself.

Unless that crap jack is lifting up the entire side of the car... you couldn't do it with just the jack anyway.

I didnt know that the arm rest had storage in it! You slide the black top part back until it clicks. Great place for my aux cable!

The gas tank is smaller in the MC - it has a 10.8 gallon capacity - the MCS has 13.2 gallon capacity.

Just curious, do they make cars with armrests that don't have storage space?

The storage space can be taken up by the bluetooth phone adapter for recharging while you drive. There is a button in the space for phone access.

The mood lighting has 5 colors if you tap the switch. You can get in-between shades by holding the switch.

Yup, they do indeed make armrests without storage! Big brother BMW 530i has an absolutely worthless armrest.

The reserve is 2.1 ... People need to start including that since the reserve is calculated into the digital gauge on the speedo.

What about the miles-to-meltdown on the computer. That IS total, absolute, tow-it-away miles, right?

The miles left on the computer includes the reserve as well.

I didn't know (till I RTFM) that each key fob is programmable with a bunch of settings. These are:
Daylight Running Lights on/off
Follow Me home on/off
auto lock on/off/timed (haven't figured out what exactly the timed one does)
Convenience lock driver door/all
Settings of Auto AC system (just remembers them)
(There may be some others I haven't found yet)

If you take the removeable key and turn it in the door, it will lock everything, rollup the windows and close the sunroof. It can also unlock the and open everything.

If you put a heavy grovery bag on the passenger seat, the MINI instructs you to belt it in! And disables the passenger airbag automatically. Same effect if you put a kid in the front seat or install a compatible baby seat.

This new MINI is really cool. But, with oil changes at 15000 miles and the oil filter being very inaccessible, I wonder how long-lifed the engine will be?
Mike

Can this be disabled?

There are times when I want absolute darkness. I sometimes frequent groups of people who drive out windy roads to stand around on mountain tops in the darkness. Anyone who shines a white light is likely to get fed to the coyotes and puma because it ruins everyone's dark adaption (night vision). No, it's not a druid cult, it's a nerd cult -- amateur astronomers.

Locking my car kills the lights.. Makes them fade out.

Follow me home is the delay that keeps the headlights on for a certain period after you park (i.e. headlight off delay).

My understanding is the reserve 2.1 gallons is part of the larger tank not a separate tank. In other words the indications that you are in the reserve fuel come on when there is 2.1 gallons left in the fuel tank. So 10.8 and 13.2 are the total rated fuel capacities.

Page 45 manual:

MINI Cooper
Approx. 10.6 US gallons/40 liters.

MINI Cooper S
Approx. 13.2 US gallons/50 liters.

Reserve

Once the fuel level has fallen to the reserve zone of approx. 2.1 US gallons/8 liters, the remainingindicator lamps change from orange to red, arrow. The tachometer displays the remainingcruising range. An indicator lamp comes on if the remaining range is less than approx.
30 miles/50 km.
