Thanks for the link to the pics gokart! Though there are some design elements of the R56 that I'm not really comfortable with, I have to admit that the more I look at the R56 the nicer it looks. Really looks sharp in CR/B. I'm curious though about the secrecy behind Oxygen Blue. Why is MINI/BMW waiting soooo long to release any pics of the car in that color. Too bad that it is only going to be offered on the Cooper and not on the MCS. I really do think that the MCS needs a more extensive choice of colors!

As am I! However, I must confess the promo pics of the R56 Cooper (I'm on the prowl for an '08 Cooper) has me definitely thinking in the direction of CR/W!!!

Lightning Blue??

Looks like someone in GB got some photos of a lightning blue Cooper S.

Looks nice. Almost like the old Estoril Blue that was on BMW ///M models a while back.

The new car's look like they sit higher than the old models. True?

They do sit a bit higher, the lowest that is allowed under new EU regulations. Exactly how much higher I haven't been able to determine, and I've been trying. Digging through EU regulations all I can come up with is that if the Mini were an off-road vehicle, it'd have to have 7" clearance. Since the current model is about 5.25" clearance, I'd say as a WAG that they are probably about an inch higher.

What you might be seeing though is the higher "waistline".

I hoped Lightning Blue would be noticably darker than Laser Blue. It just looks to me like Laser Blue seen in the sunlight with roof and mirror caps to match ( and minus the bonnet stripes, of course). But I'm no color expert:

If that's Lightning Blue, the difference between that and Laser Blue is sure subtle (which, I guess when you look at the slides side by side... it is):
