Uhaul Trailer Advice

Hello all,
So I have to trailer my car from Tampa Bay FL up to Atlanta GA this week. I've been looking at the options out there and (if someone has better advice please say so) it looks like my options are the Uhaul tow dolly or the car trailer. I wanted to see who has used either of these in the past and what advice you may have. I'm thinking it will have to be the full trailer considering the car is lowered. Even with the trailer, however, my concern is that those trailers have curved tire chocks in the front intended for the front tires to sit in. My front bumper definitely won't clear those, so how bad of an idea is it to load the car backwards? I ran into someone at a gas station the other day doing exactly that with their car on a uhaul trailer and said there were no issues. The other problem is that (the reason I have to trailer the car) the front drivers side axle is broken on the transmission side, so it's fairly difficult to get the car to roll smoothly (axle spins and catches with the wheel). I'm thinking I'll have to winch the car onto the trailer. Anyway, any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Side note: I would have just fixed the axle down there, the real issue is the hole in the transmission the axle so generously made.

I don't see any issue with loading it backwards. One piece of advice I have is rent the trailer locally and haul it round trip. Its probably cheaper that way, but mainly because u-haul uses the term "reservation" very loosely. You don't want to get down there and find they don't have one for you or they don't like the hitch on your truck, etc.

Thanks for the reply. I know what you mean about the "reservation" issue. I've reserved a 12 foot truck in the past, only to get there and find all they had was 26 footers lol.

Running the car on two wheels behind a vehicle, even though it isn't adding up the miles on the odometer, still adds to the vehicles wear. I always have gone the full trailer (open not enclosed) route or have had the car shipped as a personal preference. I don't think you'd have any issues running it that way though.

Thanks everyone. Will be using the full trailer, loading backwards with a winch. Gonna be rough with the low clearance up front but there's no way around it. Axle is broken and there's a hole in the trans so no driving it even a matter of feet. Wish me luck lol

You can use wood and/or ramps to help you get it onto the trailer. Just be careful as they can shoot out, but this is the method used for a lot of the race car guys. Good luck!
