my 3 year old stuffed coins into CD player :(

well, unfortunately, title says it all - my CD player (2011 MCS) is full of coins now and it is all shorted - t car makes animalistic sounds through speakers over tiniest road imperfections (even when stereo is off).
has anyone done DIY stereo replacements? thx in advance!

Real easy on the R53, but no idea on 2nd Gen cars. Have you tried searching the Forums section under Audio? Good luck

Oh no! That's not good. This thread on NAM should be helpful. A good set of panel removal tools may also help with the process if needed. Good luck!

If your getting an OEM replacement radio the dealer will need your existing radio for a core, typically $500. Depending on what radio you have they have to program the radio for all of the features to work.

What a great opportunity for someone to make a child guard for CD players. (See Illustration)

Anyone with a 3D printer?

Motor on!

Funny that you post this now. Over this past weekend we were installing a Bluetooth adapter into my son's 2010 Lexus and it required taking out the head unit. Clearly it had coins in it. We ended up shaking the coins to a corner of the radio and cut a slit with a Dremel to get them out. And the radio functions perfectly as does the Bluetooth.

You may be able to get them out if you are patient. Good luck.
