Time for brakes

My 11' R56 has 65k on it and is in need of some new front pads and rotors. I'm looking at getting ebc green pads but am wondering what a suitable rotor would be to match these with. Not looking for any real upgrade in performance, just good quality that will hold up to some occasional fun.

if your not tracking the car I wouldn't put to much thought into the rotor.

at my shop I have had great success with power stop unfortunately there rotors are all cross drilled and slotted but really any rotor will do I personally would go textar or something zinc coated to keep rust down and call it a day

I would get EBC reds instead of greens. I've had both and the greens make alot of dust! the reds make much less dust, aren't much more expensive, and work a little better than the greens. I've always run solid rotors, I think EBC makes a good OEM replacement that is solid.

slotted and drilled is nice if you don't track the car but heat kill this things to many weak points to crack but soilid rotors are quiet and reliable

Bavarian auto has Meyle coated rotors, really good price for quality rotors. Also they have brembo ceramic pads for a good price and they also work great.

I have sourced some zimmerman rotors for pretty cheap so far. Im also probably going to stick with ebc greens or akebono pads. Although it seems they are not compatible with the wear sensors? These seem to be a popular and durable combo in the euro car replacement parts.

EBC pads used to not have a slot for the wear sensors, but the last couple of sets I've had were compatible with the sensors. If you can't get the sensor on the pad, it's not the end of the world, I just coiled it and zip tied it to the caliper or suspension. I guess the sensors are kind of nice, but they're kind of a pain since they have to be replaced when they turn the light on, and they're not cheap. So I wouldn't let the sensor compatibility make or break your decision.

That's what I suspected, probably going to get them ordered up soon. Finding some different part #'s depending on where I look though..Can anyone confirm that DP21789 is correct for a set of front pads on a 2011 Hardtop S.

I've used the akebonos, I think the brembos are better. A lot cheaper as well.

This is true go with the EBC reds. They have a better pedal feel, last longer, and lower dust. Work great for a street car. And all the ones we stock have the slots for the pad sensors.

For rotors we use our WMW plain face as they last, and are quiet.

Way, do you find that the rotors can be used with 2 sets of ebc reds, or does one set of pads chew through the rotors usually?

It depends on how you drive. I have had people use two sets pads on one set and they worked fine. We just measure the rotors each time to decide, or do the pads a little early.

If you're going with EBC Reds stay away from drilled & slotted rotors, stay away from drilled & slotted rotors anyway because they wear faster, I found that out when going from blank Mini brand rotors to Mini Sport drilled & slotted rotors, the D&S rotors look like a shiny mirror. My blank rotors NEVER looked like my D&S rotors. Hay I thought the akebonos produced far less dust than EBC Reds...?

I realize driving style has some influence.
