Closed Deck Block (How to do an r56?)
Hi,
I have seen one engine block for the r56 which has been modified to closed deck.
I am working on my engine block right now (basic forged build) and am considering if we want to closed deck it.
Does anyone have any views on how to do it best for the mini?
I saw "EuroTechsAZ" put up a post with a link to a pic of one. I am in Scotland in the UK but if someone in the states has the capability to guide me or make the plate that I need, I will happily order it and get it shipped over.
Anyone? :-)
Thanks,
Steven RW

Hi - clearly replying to my own post here but I thought I would share my findings.
The R56 engine block is of an "open deck" design. Not as strong as a closed deck design.

Jeff who runs the company CNCWERX produce a system that can be installed to close the deck.
I dismantled my engine after the standard piston skirt broke and as a further precaution for my future planned mods I sent the block over to Jeff to install the cylindersupportsystem.
A good idea for anyone looking to push their luck with the mini engine.
Cheers
