just finished timing chain job on 08 Mini base, now have a couple fault codes

Job went well and everything seems to be pretty well laid out. Car runs good. Only issue now is that I have the following codes:

DME, VANOS, inlet actuator movement
DME, VANOS, inlet adaptation stop

Will probably go back in and check timing. Only place I deviated from Bentley manual was "tighten" the timing chain tensioning tool to .6Nm before tightening cam sprockets. I do not have a torque wrench that will get down to this level at this time. Anyway, I did it by feel and am now questioning whether this is causing the codes I'm getting. I am thinking they mean that the VANOS is at its limit.

Also read somewhere where the VANOS needs to be adapted. I do not have the equipment to adapt the VANOS unit.

Any thoughts/comments appreciated.

I remember when my timing chain, guides and tensioner were replaced by the dealer they not only re-timed everything, they also performed the adaptation. Somethings off and it don't have to be far off to cause issues as you have found out first hand, worst case scenario the Mini dealer might need to perform the re-timing and adaptation. The timing is done by adjusting the Vanos sprocket/cam gear on the intake cam for N14's.
