I bought the DOS awhile ago and never had the time to install. I just wanted to have a new filter and the DRY if i can get one.

A cleaned & carefully oiled filter will be just as good as a new one. As long as you dont get too crazy with your re-oiling then you'll be good. I've never had any issues when cleaning my oiled filters. There's no decernable difference in power so that shouldn't matter when deciding between oil or dry.

Anyone had issues with the oil possibly
getting sucked towards the intake and
having oil collect on the MAF sensor
resulting in a malfunctioning sensor
and thus needing replacement?
I believe this happened to my Audi TT
with an oiled K & N and was wondering if it occurs in the MINI world.

As for MAF sensors, yes that does happen. But it only happens with an improperly oiled filter. You don't really see brand new filters with too much oil, but I being a nervous person, still bad the filter a little bit to be sure.
As for your DoS intake, yes they are all lifelong filter. Just need cleaned every ~50k depending on your local atmospheric conditions.

Got mine NIB from eBay for cheap... seller did not know what to do with it. Shipped price is less than $6. Point is, they're out there.
