Was a Parcel Shelf Cover stock on a 2012 Cooper S?
Hi All, just picked up my new to me 2012 Mini Cooper S and noticed it doesn't have a little cover that blocks people from looking into the "truck", I call them parcel shelf covers. It is a Mini Next certified car so it was suppose to be fully reconditioned, it's also a Canadian Car if that matters. I have so far found 2 other things they "missed" when they reconditioned he car & was wondering if this was a third thing they missed or if the shelf/cover is an option.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

They should be standard. not the cheapest thing to buy for a piece thats essentially made out of cardboard, plastic and 2 piece of string :( I've got a 09 S that does come with it. The best I've seen is a 13 loaner justa which the locating plastic bit at the parcel shelf was broken and it fling out and chop your neck everytime you open the trunk lid lol

Thanks for all the quick replies everyone. You guys are going to be a great resource, I can't wait to learn a bit more about the car so I can contribute too.
Side question, do you think I'm being reasonable expecting it to be included with a car that was bought from a dealer and was Mini Next certified? My thoughts were since Mini advertises that the Mini Next certification has the dealers spending over $3000 to recondition the car to like new condition it's reasonable to expect that all stock pieces would be included even if they were broken or not returned by the original owner. One of the other issues was the crome trim around the "mouth" was broken (my wife noticed it as soon as she saw the car, before the salesman could begin the delivery speech) & he tried to say that it's just a "wear & tear" item. I wasn't too happy & said I expect it replaced and I'm not paying for it. By the end of the delivery he agreed it would be taken care of. I'm just beginning to think the dealer really didn't spend too much time "reconditioning" the car.
Thanks again for all the info.

I bought a certified 'used' (program) car and 'requested' that they provide me with a couple of little things that were not in the car when I took delivery of it, including the RIDICULOUSLY overpriced iPod Y-cable.
Go to the dealership and talk to the SALESMAN who sold you the car ... you put money directly in his pocket - his motivation to help you will be higher than the rest of them ...

Was the iPod Y Cable a factory standard or was it an option? I know it was an option on my wife's 1 Series when she bought it. I'm not trying to cheat anyone by asking for things that weren't factory options, but things that were included I think should be included on a Certified Mini Next car. Time to send a friendly email to the salesman. Thanks again everyone.

Thanks for all the info everyone, glad to say the dealer I purchased from are stepping up & replacing / repairing all of the little "defects" I've found after giving the car a good once over. That being said little things aside, I am so glad I bought this little rocket it's an absolute riot to drive.

They can also install a protective blanket on the inside of the hood under the hood scoop. This was one of the 'recalls' or 'campaigns'.
While on the subject, do explicitly ask them to check for all open 'campaigns' on your car. You might assume they will do it regardless, but many skip that step.
