What did you find the problem(s) to be? Sorry no one responded to you. Some additional information might have gotten better results. You got a CEL, but without the codes, the dealer's diagnosis is what you get pretty much. Water pumps and thermostats are pretty common failures, particularly over 60,000 miles. I hope that you have been watching your coolant reservoir that it has been consistently full without adding any antifreeze. The thermostat has an electrical sensor in it that keeps an eye on it, besides leakage. Water pumps just leak. The CEL could be triggered for any number of reasons that point to there being a coolant system problem. Find an esteemed independent who knows MINIs to do the work if you cannot. Searching for common issues on this site will bring up tons of posts regarding both parts. More than you probably care to read.

But you still have a Check Engine Light on? Go to a Autozone or somewhere else with a code reader and get the codes that are set. Do you have a temp gauge that you're running? Obviously a it isn't over heating or you wouldn't have made that trip successfully. Get the codes.
