HELP! Immediate help needed...

My wife is stuck in the neighboring town. Her 2010 Mini Cooper S Auto won't start.

She drove out there fine. But now the brake pedal is all the way to the floor, and she can't depress it (engage it) to get the car to start.

I did a quick search and came up dry.

Any suggestions or experience with this?

EDIT: Poor description written above--once I got there I realized the brake pedal was fine. The battery was almost dead, that was all.

Hmmm...
Why can't she crank it? Steering wheel locked?
On most cars one or two pumps of the brake with the motor off will result in a hard pedal....
Any warming messages?

You said the brake pedal is all the way to the floor? There must be a blown master cylinder, a burst brake hose or a failed caliper. Even if you do get that car started it will not be safe to drive as it sounds like the brake fluid is leaking somewhere.

Odd failure. I'm gonna go that the return spring broke or fell off the pedal. Have her look around the floor for it.

Either way I'm gonna guess she can't fix it where she is.

OK, guys, I'm sorry for the poor description. The battery was dying.

The brake pedal was not all the way to the floor--in fact it was firm and was not dropping down at all. My wife mistakenly thought it was all the way depressed and that was why it wasn't going down any further.

I jumped started the car and we drove home. It just needs a new battery, apparently.

I can see where she thought a hard pedal felt like it went to the floor. Ok. No big deal now. Make sure she didn't leave a light on or something. Good luck.

Thanks for your efforts.

My wife is not a 'car person' and she could tell I was pretty ticked when I got there and looked at the brake pedal.

That's like remote tech support for family with computers, phones and even cable boxes!!! I cannot tell you how many times I have tried helping folks over the phone and getting everything described other than what was really happening.... Sheesh!
