Help with OBD-2 Software - IOS / WiFi / Dash Command
I've tried a couple different pieces of software. The first of which is OBDCOM with their provided USB Cable. I can connect to the car but all that I am able to retrieve is the RPM's and trouble codes (although the Dash Command found some but this piece of software didn't). I have the latest version of the software. If I connect to my Pontiac Vibe I gain access to other more useful information. Coolant Temp, O2 sensors etc...
I then purchased an ELM compatible WiFi dongle and the Dash Command iPhone/iPad app. Again I can connect, but I can only retrieve RPM information as well as trouble codes. As mentioned above, when I connect to my Pontiac Vibe I can access all sorts of other information.
Am I missing something? Could it possibly have to do with the JCW Tuning Kit upgrade that I have installed in my MCS? I am at a loss at this point, because other people seem to be able to retrieve coolant temp, oil pressure etc...
Best!

Update
So, I did more research and I discovered that some of the cheaper WiFi dongles can and sometimes will generate misfire codes as well as other electrical anomalies. I decided to return the one I purchased after a friend brought over his bluetooth version in conjunction with the Torque app and it worked with no issues what so ever and more importantly no codes. Which leads me to believe that the Dash Command app does NOT work with my Mini. I'd love to be proved wrong regarding my last statement, but after trying it on different version of iOS I was unable to get anything other than RPMs to display.
If you have an iPhone/iPad and are using a WiFI dongle and an App to display coolant temp and Oil pressure and Boost I would very much like to hear from you.

Using the Kiwi II wifi adapter and DashCommand for a while. IOS6 and now IOS7. My normal display shows RPM, boost, water temp, outside air temp, intake temp, lambda and exhaust temp. It will not read BMW specific error codes, only OBDII codes. For data logging I have it record RPM, boost, AFR, timing and IAT.

Thanks! I took your advice and posted on their forums. John replied and had me make some timeout and delay adjustments. This in conjunction with 'checking' the Disable OBd-II Mode Support as well as going into each of the PID categories and checking all the ones that are green allowed more data to be displayed. Now the only monitor/gauge that is incorrect is boost. Quick question for you ... what value did you use for 'brake specific fuel consumption' ? They specify forced induction as .50 to .60, but call out turbo diesel as .35. Default is .44. Thoughts?

I personally use OBDLink Wifi from scantool.net because I was hoping for faster scan rates using the optional usb connection to the laptop. But there are much much cheaper versions that will work just fine. Here's a link:

Yes, Kiwi 2 is one that will work, it's not the only one, it's just also compatible with PLX devices if you have those too. Anything that is ELM327 compliant should work. There are Bluetooth, wifi and usb dongles. Be careful of Bluetooth versions if you are going to be using an iPhone (most won't work from what I understand). IIRC Torque is an Android only app. I like DashCommand when using an iOS device.
