Red pill or the Blue pill?

We had a F56 on order that has been trapped at port now for several weeks. Our local Porsche dealer got a 2013 MCS on trade with nearly an identical configuration to the car my wife ordered. I think the only big difference is we lost the back up camera (still have the sensors) google earth and few of the other small goodies in the F56.

Either way the '13 had 2450 miles on it, and it was traded for a Boxster after 9 short months of ownership. The delta between the cost of the car we ordered versus the '13 is over 10 grand, so it made the decision very easy.

Wife is happy, I am happy and my local Mini dealer sort of won and lost at the same time. Lost the sale on the F56 but gained a customer for service etc. We may revisit the F56 in the future but for now, I am shopping for snow tires.

The funny part of this whole EPA debacle is my wife ordered her car in early July and the lease was up on my S4 in August and I managed to snag 1 of 20 Nogaro Edition S4's and get it in the driveway all the while her ordered car is sitting in port. I would have thought the challenging car to get was mine, not hers.

After picking up the Mini today and driving it for a few miles she challenged me to a race. Then she finally drove the S4 for the first time today, and promptly withdrew her request.

Cheers

If she was buying a MINI for a race she should have gotten a 2014 GB.

But nice choice is vehicles.

I think you made a great decision and saved some money in the process.

BTW, I am intimately familiar with both the S4 and S6. If that MCS is a manual with proper performance tires, and she knows how to drive it properly, sorry, but your S4 will be handed to you if you are on twisties and not straights, say, The Dragon, for instance

congratulations on a couple of very nice rides!

I believe she was thinking strait line. I don't think she has gotten used to the higher levels of cornering grip this car offers over her prior vehicle (infiniti g35x sedan), so it will take some adjustment time on her part. Going to start looking for some driving schools. (best performance mod for the dollar)

Car handles great, it needs better tires for sure. I am going to leave the stock 16's for snows. (I hate no season tires) May go 17's for a summer tire setup, not sure yet. Thankfully we have 6 months to decide. The need for run flats really limits options. Probably doing LM60's for snows. I would love to do Pilot Super Sports for summer but I don't think they have RF option. (or do they?)

The MCS is an automatic, again that's what she wanted. Either way very happy its all finally done, and I think she is happier not spending 10k additional. Will probably check in with Mini USA to see if we can extend the factory warranty, and get the front bumper and hood clear bra'ed.

Nice set of cars!
IMHO - stick with the 16" wheels and drop the run-flats for a better ride. Just pick up some road side assistance (AAA).

Nice, I need a little sophomoric humor once in a while. It is funny that you can take the blue pill to help with altitude sickness.

Probably will stick with runflats, not a huge fan of relying on roadside assistance.

Mini dealer is so pissed we are backing out of our 2015 order. I am still waiting to find out if they will refund our deposit. If they don't refund it I will call my credit card company and deal with them that way. Sorry our car has been sitting at port for weeks, we were tired of waiting.

Sorry you did not get the F56, at least you did get a newer R56 MINI.

Another AAA member here, you might pay a little more but you get what you pay for. You got the 200 miles free tow, free gas if stranded. As a matter of fact I'm picking up my MCS today after a minor backing up accident ($5000), AAA paying the deductible this time, almost 3 weeks in body shop.

MINI dealer will likely have a hard time selling a car as loaded as it sounds like the one you ordered is. Most around here at least tend to keep cheaper, poorly optioned cars on the lots and rely on orders to take care of anyone who wants anything special. Any time I've checked inventory I've seldom seen any cars equipped with navigation, etc.

Congrats on the new (to you) MINI. You may have lost a couple of tech doodads, but (IMO) you at least ended up with a better looking car in the R56.
