Just got the ol' 6'er back from service...

Bought mine last week in Raleigh, NC at Flow Mini and quite happy. Very pleased with sale process. Any dealer i had been too before you feel pressured. These guys were pretty cool and didn't get that impression. Even sat in the finance office last night after hours chatting about BMW's and racing Mini's.

So there were a few things since it was used needed attention and most are fixed now. Also requested walnut shell blasting since it had 60k miles on it. They agreed to cover some of the cost since i just bought it and had a minor stumble. Advised they use a scale to determine how bad it is and mine was a 3 out of 5. Said another few thousand miles and would have seen a misfire. So at least its done although it would be nice if BMW NA would fess up to their engineering screw-up (CCV/Direct Injection). Never going to happen though.

Oh, almost forgot. After reading so many horror stories about repairs i decided to go with the Gold 36 month warranty today. I don't want to go through what i did with the BMW i just got rid of, no thanks.

Smart move going with the 36 month warranty especially on a used MCS! Direct injection isn't the problem, the problem is poorly designed oil separators. The N18 engines don't have any issues with oil burning or oil coked valves. If you were to take an older model car or truck and convert it to a direction injection it to would have problems with oil deposits on the intake valve, whenever you move the injector from port injection to direct injection you lose the valve cleaning benefit.

Funny i was looking on the back of the intake and i do indeed see some leftovers from the intake cleaning. So at least i know it was done! That sort of thing i like to see in person. Ordered some JCW NGK version spart plugs and socket to remove the old 12 points. Lets see if that helps though not running bad at all.
