Clutch/SMF kit question

Hi! I have a 2007 Mini Cooper S with an N14 motor. My clutch is completely shot, and I'm worried my DMF is as well. What I want to do, to save money and maybe add some life, is use a clutch-SMF conversion kit. However, all the kits I'm seeing, such as this one or this one only seem to be made for the convertible, and I've been told from both companies are not compatible with a hatchback (which makes little sense). Can anyone offer any insight? I feel like I'm in a gap between models or something.

Thanks!

Hello,

Those are for the Gen 1 R52/R53 MINI Cooper S / JCW : W11 engines. Valeo dual mass to single mass clutch part # 52151203

You have a Gen 2 MINI , 2007 and 2008 are overlaps for Gen 1 and gen 2 where the R52 Convertible was stilling being made as the R56 was staring out.

Hardtop R56 2007 Cooper S with N14 engine is Gen 2. I what you need.

Here is a link to you model:

Valeo does not have a dual mass to single mass kit yet for Gen 2. We have the Clutch master kits and then the regular clutch kits and factory dual mass flywheels.

Thanks

It looks like you have a SMF for this kit, if I'm seeing it right...

Why can't I just get a kit with a regular OEM clutch that converts from DMF to an SMF.

What I'm trying to do is really avoid spending a lot of money on a new DMF...

Yes that's the single mass kit that was made by Clutch Master, that's the dual mass to single mass option we have. We don't have a factory or aftermarket direct replacement to stock one at the time. Like Gen 1 MINIs. You could do the dual mass from Sach and the clutch from the new factory Genuine MINI / valeo clutch are now the same as the JCW part number so the clutch should feel better and softer the pressure plate on the originals from 2007+ are very hard / heavy compared to the newer ones. If that add any valve to you.

Thanks

Do you happen to know if R56 S flywheel/clutch components are compatible with the base (non turbo) models?

I have found a few clutch/pressure plate kits but I would also like to go with a single mass, even light weight, if possible, flywheel while the car is apart. I have found numerous light weight flywheels available for the R56 S but nothing yet that explicitly states it is compatible with the base model.
