The VIN Last 7 Characters

I have been doing some homework on the Last 7 Characters of the MINI VIN people will tell you there is nothing much to these last 7 charcters other than a serial number. I have found this to be not the case.

The reason for the homework is reasearch on the MINI Inspired by Goodwood.

For a given year and series of MINI the last 7 characters tell you a lot about the car.

2012 R56 Cooper S LCI

T15NNNN Right Hand Drive Auto
T38NNNN Left Hand drive auto USA market
TY2NNNN Left Hand drive Manual

What I am looking for is Left Hand Drive Euro delivery for an early 2012 build R56 LCI Cooper S Auto example can anyone help? Also the same for LH Drive asian markets.

May I ask what you are trying to accomplish? If you want to reverse engineer MINI's algorithm for assigning VIN numbers, that's an interesting exercise but I don't see the utility of it. From the other direction, if you already have a VIN number, you can get the vehicle's details using this VIN decoder (http://www.bmwarchive.org/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html).

T15NNNN Right Hand Drive Auto
T38NNNN Left Hand drive auto USA market
TY2NNNN Left Hand drive Manual
Those don't seem completely correct because they would imply that only 9999 can be produced of each type.

Its not about decoding the last 7 Characters of the VIN at the moment its about getting examples of the Last 7 characters for the R56 LCI Cooper S 2012 build cars.

I am looking for examples of VINs across all markets for Auto & Manual R56 LCI 2012 Build Cooper S.

I am aware of the BMW VIN decoder.

Mine is a standard LHD US-market manual transmission car, and it matches none of your patterns. It is T18XXXX.

...You may not have found the pattern you thought you found...

All the T18XXXXX cars for the USA will have been built around the same time so that will tell you something about that series of cars.

Its not about decoding the last 7 characters its simply seed values to base a search on. So far the process have resulted in over 450 Goodwoods in the Database.

What I am looking for is VIN patterns for the R56 LCI Cooper S from early 2012 yes there are lots of them I just need seed values and as I have said I want a sample of...

I don't know how it is in the rest of the world, but in the US many (perhaps most) car sale listings on the web include the VIN number. For example, all of the major sites (eBay Motors, carmax.com, autotrader.com etc) show the VIN of every car listed -- buyers expect to be able to research the vehicle they are considering for purchase. You should be able to collect quite a few VIN numbers that way.

The VIN is not actually required in ads here. It is more like a marketing tool to make potential buyers feel more comfortable.
