No heat, overheating, leaking collant

I just wanted to share the following, for people searching NAM for similar issues themselves one day.

Day one: heat wasn't working right. Blowing out varying temperatures from cold to luke warm when in the hot setting. Called mini, scheduled closes appt for 2 weeks away. Didn't seem like an "emergency" yet.

Day 4-5: got an engine overheating light when in drive thru line. Went away as soon as I started to drive.

Day 7: saw a puddle of coolant under the engine. Close to the middle, but a bit more on the driver side.

Took car in the next morning (after topping of close to empty coolant tank with distiller water). Ended up being a water pump. Replaced under warranty.

Car is 18 months old. 36,000 miles.

Sounds a lot like what happened to mine (16 months old) a month ago except the sequence of events took two days. Dealership said heater not working right is classic sign... Hope this isn't a common problem.
