Driver side door push button does not work
Hello everyone,
Greeting from Midwest of the U.S.
This is my first post. My friend has a Mini Cooper S 2009 (U.S. Edition with the driver on the left side of the car). Currently the push button on the exterior door handle does not work. Would you please help me to find a solution? Thank you.
Symptoms:
1. With the keyless fob in proximity, the car cannot be locked or unlocked when the push button on the exterior door handle of driver side (left side) is pressed.
2. The door can be locked or unlocked by using the buttons on the keyless fob.
3. The door can be locked or unlocked by using the push button on passenger side (right side) of the car with keyless fob in proximity.
4. The toggle on central console works.
5. The interior door handle of driver side(left side) works to unlock the door with double-pull.
I suspect the fuse might be broken. However, the user manual does not tell us the layout of this Mini Cooper's electrical layout. Would you please tell us which fuse is in charge of the driver side (left) exterior door handle's push button? I sincerely appreciate your help.

sounds like it could be by design to prevent you locking the key in the car. I have a non-keyless model.
The driver door button is inoperative with the door open. I thought it was a problem until I realized there was a good reason...
(makes you wonder whats the point of having the button at all though)
