R56 remote start??

It can be done. I just forget the exact way it's done. There is a sequence which has to be followed by placing the shifter into neutral and pressing a remote starter button or something when turning the engine off.

There are a couple of threads here where people have added it. Not an easy job by any means. need the remote starter unit and at least one other interface module.
You can check out the manufacturers and they can tell you what extra modules you will need to make it all work. Just beware some manufacturers have not up dated past the 2009 year yet.

MINI says you're not supposed to start the car and let it idle, you're supposed to start it and drive it. As quickly as it warms up when driven, letting it idle seems just a waste of gas.
It gets COLD here in Kansas too, so I understand the allure, but I just turn on the "bun warmers" and in a couple of blocks I'm comfortable and toasty warm, even on the really cold days.
The best solution tho, is a garage!

Mini says that, but Minis take forever to get warm in the winter.
Heated Seats are defenatly a good thing to have when it is cold.
I am interested in this, because I want to add a turbotimer/remote start to my R56. If possible want to buy a harness and not have to cut any wires. Prob won't happen, but just squaring up.
An idea I have had for awhile now is adding heated seats and running the wires to the battery and having a heater all on a toggle switch that I can remotely hit from my Warm window. The current draw will be about 30a, but I have 4AWG wire in the back and a Optima Redtop with an extra 200CCA. The biggest issue I have with this is, it doesn't heat the oil up so the car's cooling system is still cold. You don't want to drive off without oil flowing, so I have no idea what Mini was thinking......

I believe it's a spam bot. There's a tiny image in the post to artificially hike the traffic of a marketing website. Advertising scam.
I apologize in advance to julyaric if I'm incorrect about this and the image has another purpose.
