Hi all
First time poster long time lurker. Have had my dark gray MCS for a week now, great fun.
Has anyone swapped out there battery for a light weight unit?
I see the Odyssey and the Braille mentioned here and there. Has anyone tried NRGCELL the list it as a daily driver. I will need to see what the CCA on the stock battery are for the factory unit.

Planned Mods: Alta Cat Back Exhaust, Oil Catch Can, JCW Steering Wheel...
the CCA on the OEM is 450 and the one your looking at is only 300CCA....
Not enough cranking amp reserve

I have used a race battery in a different car. If you plan to use the MINI as a daily driver I would not recommend a race battery unless you keep a jump start battery in the boot. Since you would net a weight gain I would stick with the stock battery.

The CCA has been my biggest concern. Living in the North east it gets cold enough in the winter.
I would suspect that as a daily driver it would do better since the battery gets charged to and from work. I would assume that letting it sit for a week or two would drain it.
Spend your money elsewhere for a better bang for the buck. Not enough of an increase in perfromance to warrant the change. A one-ball mod will probably save as much, if not more, weight.
Braille has their "no weight" and carbon fiber batteries starting at 6.6 lbs that are purely for track/racing. I talked with them a while ago and they claim that the 15 lb battery (and up) is OK for daily use in a Mini. But to be sure especially in the cold climates, I think the 17 lb, 18.5 lb or 21 lb batteries may be better. Still a lot lighter than stock.
The 45 min quoted in an earlier post is reserve capacity, not storage time.
