Warning Sign between mileage and trip miles

Hi, I just got my car a few days ago and I'm a little worry about a triangle yellow sign that appears between the total mileage and trip mileage every time I start the car.. I read the manual and it says

Quote:
Lights up in yellow: The engine will start the next time the start/stop button is touched, possibly without the brake or clutch being depressed.
So that sign is normal? I just noticed it... and every time I see that "warning" sign, I get worry!!!

Anyone can tell me if it normal or what I need to do?

Thanks!

What kind of warning(s) do you get in the tach when you startup? The small one is a reminder.Do you have a CEL or TPMS light on the speedo?

Now I found the real message at that sign..

"This Symbol indicates that Check Control messages have been stored. Check control message can be viewed whenever it is convenient." Page 61 Top Right Corner.

The triangle "!" sign could be as simple as a TPS that needs resetting. All it's telling you is there's a minor issue that's needs attending to. Next time you drive the car go down early, open the owner's manual and access the car's computer. Using the manual, identify the icon that appears and the manual will guide you through whatever is needed to correct it.

The exclamation only stays on as a reminder that something is not right with your MINI.

If you have NO other indicator lights on while driving and all your service info is up to date in your OBC then seek help from your dealer.

I bet it was always on since you got the car 2 weeks ago and it's something the dealer should have reset. Like the battery needed charging or the tires or something they did. It does that when you need gas!

Maybe you have a bulb out or one of your electrical plugs unplugged itself. That's what happened when I detached my boot handle and also when I replaced the bulb in one of the reflectors.

That "!" in a triangle is the general alert that something is wrong and will appear when you're low on gas, a service interval is due, the TPS needs re-setting, a light is out, a tire is flat, etc, etc. The way you identify which issue is triggering the symbol is to watch the larger digital display in the tach. Normally, it shows just the time and temperature, or the speed. If you get a little picture during engine start, AND THEN the date/time/speed appears, that picture is the indication of what's up with the car. If the icon isn't obvious, look it up in the owner's manual.

Since the "triangle !" thing is turning off after engine start, it sounds like you're getting a maintenance reminder. When I first drove my MINI home, the dealer had forgotten to tell the computer the initial service had been done, so I was getting a service indicator warning like you're getting. It was very easy to re-set and the procedure is in the owner's manual.

I believe it's perfectly normal to have this come on when you first start the car.

Take many things said on here with a grain of salt as alot of people are overly passionate and protective of their MINI's.

I am as well, but I learned a long time ago that if you spend all your time worrying about the what ifs, you don't enjoy the moment.

put your seatbelt on before starting the car - see if it's still there.

As per my MA

Quote:
I just checked a couple of our MINI’s and it is doing the exact same thing. According to one of my technicians, every time you start your MINI the system it does a quick check just to make sure everything is running fine.
so, nothing to worry about!

Put the seat belt before starting the car... and if everything is right, it won't show up anymore..
