So, paint isn't even dry on the first GP style spoiler. Got to fix a few things and I happened to walk into the local import shop and BAM, there she was sitting on a shelf. Someone ordered some big gawdy carbon fibred center wing with these HUGE pedastal ends.
I got it for a good price and started cutting. I think I can make this one even better.
Sorry for the pics, I had already taken the ends off and cut them off before I thought to take pics.
I'll post pics as we go along.
Here is how large the side panel was... I had already cut it but you get the idea.
I cut the ends off....
If I reverse the ends from side to side and start hacking to make them fit, I think it will work great and I'll get to keep the carbon fiber look too.
Granted, that piece I'm holding against the glass will get cut down tremendously but you get the idea.

Did not mean to give you a hard time about perfect. Just wanted to say your standards are too high. I would have been perfectly happy with the other spoiler.
I wasn't too crazy about the last one. The sides were too small. This one may be the sides are too big (for me)
Why don't you run down to the local craft store and buy some sytrofoam sheets and tweak the pattern using that. OR keep buying up carbon wings and then you can send me your scrapped carbon wings sections . I should be able to make an airplane by the time you're done. LOL
Awesome work, keep it up. I'm getting an education just by reading your posts!
EDIT: Hey those race ramps are pretty cool. Does the MINI ride up on them without scraping the front air dam?

Actually, by the time I cut down these ones, they should be juuust right. I'm not using them in the size they are now.

Hey, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while... if I make enough of them, one of them is bound to be perfect.

I love those ramps. I'm not sure if you've ever used them but they're a composite material. They're about as heavy as Styrofoam and in that pic, that's only 4 pieces (2 per side) There's actually another piece per side if you have a REAL low car. It extends the ramps at least another 3-3.5 feet.

You're right, the sides are HUGE. However, I'm only using hte bottom 8-9". I'll cut the rest of it off and modify to fit the top piece.
In the second pic, you'll notice I left a piece of the side pieces still bolted to the wing.... that way, I can mold the cut-down 8-9" piece to the rest of the wing.
I'll post pics along the way.
HTH's,
Mark
