Finally!!! Orderning next week!!!! My configuration...

Well.. after waiting 5 months.. and I'm ready to order! All I need know, is to choose for next week which of these two I'm getting.

1. Dark Silver Clubman S - Black roof.
- 6 speed manual
- White Turn Signals
- LSD
- Rear fog lamps
- Xenon headlamps
- 16" Bridge Spoke BLACK
--
-Bluetooth and USB/iPod Adapter
- Cloth: Checkered Carbon Black Black
- Anthracite Headliner
- Surface Piano Black
- Leather Sport Steering Wheel w/Multifunction
- Hi-Fi Stereo

2. Dark Silver Cooper S - Black Roof
- All same option like the Clubmans S and
- JCW Aero Kit

Someone mention that the length of the clubman is odd for the size of the car... and I never took that into consideration.. So next week I'm checking both size carefully. But I'm ordering one or the other.

What do you think about the configurations?

I like Option 1. I think the aero kit looks odd on the Clubman.

I was considering the exact same car, except with a silver roof. I think that looks very classy.

Great build either way. Congratulations on your choice!

I'm a fan of #2, I like the looks of the JCW Aero Kit a lot, and i prefer the coopers. Have you test driven a cooper and a clubman?

I'd get #2. But there must be a reason you have the Clubman as one of your choices (I assume it's not aesthetic).

First I wanted the Cooper S mostly because of the size and looks, the I though the Clubman is a better choise... more space, easy access to the back seat, etc etc.. BUT, then I was thinking and I realize that in the last year I drove alone in my xb all the time and I never use the extra space in the back/trunk... and then someone mention how odd the length looks for the size of the clubman... I also don't like how bad the visibility is trough the back window on the clubman.

Soooooo... I'm more happy towards the Cooper S.. and also because I love the JCW Aero Kit... Now I need to check one more time the colors, and probably I will go white w/ white roof and I will use the money of the paint (that I'm not paying extra) to get another upgrade..

Wow.. this is getting too complicated! LOL

I don't see the Multi-function Steering Wheel in your list. Having the volume control on the steering wheel is something I find very useful when using an iPod or iPhone.

I also wouldn't have a car without cruise control. The MFSW is the only way to get it.

Really? The MINI Coupe length is extremely odd for the height and width of the car. It is much taller than an Acura Integra (a rather normally proportioned compact car) and the MINI Coupe is much shorter.

+1 MFSW is worth every penny, even if you don't get the bluetooth adapter for your car. The audio controls and the cruise alone are worth the price of it. You really should consider it.

CABO: I like your thinking on the size. I have been happy with my S and no matter how you order it S, non S or Clubman, it's still a MINI and it's not a MAXI. I did not see the Cold Weather Pkg. A must for winter and it's something you might not consider in Southern Ca this time of year. Maybe the JCW's has it, I did not get that. Why Manual? Are you young? You get both worlds with an auto because of the paddle shifters. I just want you to get the right stuff. It took me 5 month also to order. Then I hurried up to wait for it! But that was some of the fun of it. Take your time and order with confidence. You should look up SoCal MINI's soon! A club is really fun to hang with.

skerm8... I can't drive automatic... I'm getting manual because I have been driving manual my whole life.. and every time I'm driving an automatic my right hand wants to change gears.. I even enjoy heavy traffic with manual!

Not Cold Weather Pkg... It is not worth it for me.. like the Auto AC... all you need to do is to crank the heather or AC when you need it, and turn it off when you don't...

I waited around 5 months to order... I was doing a count down on my welcome post until I got tired.. lol Then I was looking at the forums every day.. going to the dealership a few times... I wanted to be 100% what I wanted, and I'm getting there... I'm like 98.999% right now.. Still deciding if I'm getting the alarm... and for now is a no.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Whenever I hear a car alarm, I assume somebody hit a button by mistake. Nobody seems to pay any attention when one goes off; it's just an irritation. If it's different in your area, okay; but it would be a waste of money to me.

I think factory car alarms are a joke. FYI the one thing I see you didn't option that I love is Comfort Access. I got it with a package on mine (I probably wouldn't have paid ala carte for it by choice at the time but I would now) but I love being able to jump in the car and start it without getting the key out and putting it in that slot and jumping out the same way. Makes it impossible to leave your keys in your car too (I got one stolen doing that once). Should've named it Convenient Access. I'd only get a Clubman if: a. I needed the extra 3 inches of legroom in the back seat a lot or b: if I liked the looks better (that would be my wife).

+1 comfort access.

You can install the alarm later if you want, can't do that (easily) with comfort access.

Cooper S all the way-- Clubman is BMW/MINI's way of marketing to ppl that owned a MC or MCS when they were younger and may be wanting another car now that they have a family. It is for ppl that want that "fun ride" but don't want what most ppl would label a "family car." The Clubman is also for the ppl that have always been saying-- "But the MINI is just too small." or "But there is hardly any room in it..."
If you want extra room-- fold the seats down! Get the Cooper S!

Yeah! I already decided to go with the Cooper S... but I'm going with PW/PW ... Yesterday I already said no to the alarm.. but now I'm thinking about the comfort access, but it is hard because I don't think is worth $500 for not taking the fob out of the pocket.. but will see! I'm going on Thursday with the deposit, so I have a few more days to think about it.

Thanks everybody for the support and opinions! Really appreciate it!

PW! Now you're talking! I've got the Clubby because I have kids, and it offers plenty of room for them. Otherwise, I'd go with the Mini MINI. It's only 9", but it makes a HUGE difference!

Good luck!

Are you sure? Are you very sure? If Jason Voorhees starts coming at you one night with a machete, don't come crying back to us cause he cut off your arm while you were fumbling around trying to find your keys.

Hey Capo! Congrats on your upcoming order!! I think the configuration stage is the most exciting, yet most frustrating stage of them all!! As soon as I placed the order for my Clubbie I never went back to the configurator,, no sense 2cnd guessing and agonizing over what might have been,,, but PMG did I agonize, clear up to the moment of ordering!! LOL

Hope you love what you order as much as the rest of us on here.

My MA said I could make any changes I want up until it actually went into production, then no changes. Fortunately I did not need to make any changes.

I went with the convenience package which included the comfort access, and MFSW on my 09 MCSa. Best decision I ever made. I love all the features the convenience package added.

I did go with the factory alarm because it got me a discount on my insurance and over the 3 years of my lease the insurance discount more than pays for the alarm.
