Are there any settings ya'll would suggest to a newbie?

Finally picked mine up on tuesday night. Having a blast so far. My MA has been great, but he really blew through the delivery and settings as he was delivering 3 other cars that day. I didn't mind so much as I almost drove thru the garage dooe when he was done... I was ready to go!

Settings like Date and time were all done. I managed to get the daytime running lights off and the lane change blinkers to 3 flashes... Are there any other settings you might suggest that I'm not aware of? I like the lights flashing when I lock and unlock, but I'd like to have a beep or horn... any suggestions of other settings I can program myself?

Pretty sure there was mention of a beep or horn setting in the manual for locking and unlocking. You might also consider auto lock when you pass 10 mph.

I believe you have to have the alarm option to annoy those around you with the horn beeping while locking.

I can't think of any settings, off hand, but reading through the owner's manual is highly recommended. There is stuff in there that is good to know.

I live by the 3-click turn signal....if you got that you're good to go. The rest is gravy.

I like the 10mph lock, and setting the fob to unlock all doors. I have the alarm so I silenced it. Remember to do it with BOTH KEY FOBS or when you swap them to keep their batteries charged you'll be miffed. Also your radio settings are unique to the key fob.

I hate the 10mph lock, but I like the unlock all doors with one click.

Its a matter of taste.

My favorite is: unlock all doors when you remove the key from the ignition.

There's a preference for that? I've never seen it.

I haven't seen that either. Make and model? I've scoured my manual and I can't find that on my car.

It must be an option to disengage the 10mph lock because mine has never done that...

That's the only way I know of, just hit the key/fob's unlock (programed for 'ALL') as you remove the key.

I do wish that the Owners Manual had all the key/fob settings in one section, but you have to bore through each section to root out the settings.

Door lock section should cover key/fob options for auto-lock.

I have the auto-lock set. I know how to turn that on and off. It's the auto-UNlock option when removing the key from the ignition that's been suggested. I don't think it exists on my 08 MCSm.

If anyone has information on the auto-unlock's existence please come forward

The only similar option I'm aware of was the 1st gen unlock at shutdown which I had programmed in our old MINIs. There's no option I've seen for 2nd gen MINIs which is similar.
