Hi everyone,
I'm new to here. Nice to meet you.
I have a 2007 Cooper S,i dont have parking sensors on my Mini,is it possible to install one on it?What do you recommand? Where i can get them?
Thank you for your help~~
Do you really need them, I have sensors on my allroad, and they are great because that car is huge, however daily parking in NYC I never once needed them on the MCS, the car is just so small I know exactly where it is.
That being said parktronic would be very expensive to add, but I would think quite doable.

Knowing where the car is is just half of the problem. Knowing where other things are is the other half. With the high waist of the MINI and headrests, the ability to see what is behind the MINI is much less than what I was used to in an Itegra. It isn't easy to see low-lying objects behind the MINI. I enjoy having the Park Distance Control system with the NAV graphic.
If all you are doing is parking between SUVs in the city, no problem. Not so easy to see the nose of a Ferrari (I live near Pebble Beach, CA ), or how about a Miata? For me, it is the other stuff, like the 6" high board that separates my driveway from a 4 ft. drop, the pile of bricks waiting to become a retaining wall, or the bobcat sleeping in the sun.
I suspect that it would be expensive to have the factory system installed, but asking your dealer just costs a phone call. DIY, if possible, would still require dealer participation to update the onboard software.
Another option would be install a video system, rather than a sensor system. Google should be able to point you to some.

I try to leave quite a bit of room, so I find the Mini super easy to park, easiest of any car I've owned, of course I'm not parking in front of any Ferraris in Manhattan or Brooklyn though (lol). I do have to say it does take a bit more (mental) effort minus the parking sensors.

The two closest dealers in this area said the PDC is a factory only option. No idea why as it's just a few sensors and module to plug in.

I had originally ordered it for my R57, however the factory forgot to install it, and I ask my delaer the same question, if they could install it before I pick up my Mini. They said they wouldn't try it as it also requires a new wiring harness in addition to the plug-in modules and sensors.
In general, the sensors would not be the problem, but the new rear bumper kit that is for PDC would need to be ordered so the sensors can plug in.
In my case, I had ordered the JCW Aero II with PDC but since the factory forgot to install the PDC, the dealer absorbed the cost of ordering just the sensors, and plugged those in so I have a one of a kind R57. With a non-functional PDC.
The Dealerships say it cannot be installed by them, BUT there are aftermarket sensors that are either hardwired or batter operated that will work. Google Parking Sensors and a world of devices will appear
I plan on adding these to my 2 MINI's because of hitting airdams on concrete parking bumpers and small things like dogs & cats behind me.
For just one sensor and the clip from the harness (which still doesn't give you the actual wiring) it's about $160 in parts. So multiply that by 4... $640 just for the minimum parts. That's not even talking about the bumper piece or the actual harness. Totally not worth it for factory setup.

Apparently so! The aftermarket suff is much less expensive
