3rd Party Tire and Wheel Hazard Coverage

I am picking up my new MCS tomorrow (trading in my 07). I currently have the Tire and Wheel hazard protection and have used it. On the new car they want $699 for 5 years. Is it possible to get it from a third party? Or should i just negotiate the price down a bit. Start at 399 and meet somewhere in the middle?

JMHO but its a big waste of money, keep your eyes open in the market place and you can get a barely used set of OEM RFTs for under $200.

If the tires your getting on your new MINI are sold at Discount, you can go to discount and get their hazard warranty.

I did on my 07. They may have changed practices, but you should check.

If you want the wheels covered for damage, that is dealer only I believe.

I doubt the dealer with haggle on price. They are reselling a policy from a 3rd party... I got that policy with mine. You can cancel and get the money back if you don't want it. My thinking... if I blow a tire and break a rim... roadside assistance will pick me and car, deliver to a dealer, and they just put on a new tire and rim, then I'm back on the road. yeah.. probably paid too much, but that's what insurance is...

Won't your insurance cover any wheel damage? You should not have much reason for insurance on the runflats. Once the runflats wear-out you might want a road hazard warranty on your new tires (obtained from wherever you buy the tires). I never get road hazard insurance because my Mini tires usually last less than 20,000 miles and many times the insurance is prorated.

It is an option to enhance dealer profit. I would stay the heck away from that and all the other wonderful little extras that they will try to sell you.
