Thank you--I've been saying this ever since I got mine, nearly 60,000 miles ago! I've owned sports cars and sports sedans for 38 of my 42 driving years, and I think it's the hardest to drive well. I don't know if it's because it's so "twitchy" or what, but I'm happy for the challenge. Keeps me...young(er).

I thought the same after driving my MINI for the first year... I recently installed a larger rear sway bar and it's made a world of difference...

Hi

Strange what you chaps say about the fuel guage

Ive conducted some tests with my 07 dooper and it seems spot on

10 Carrots = 480/500 miles on computer
5 carrots = 240/250 miles on computer
2 carrots =100 miles on computer
1 carrot = 48 mile on computer

so it seems mine is functioning properly

I've owned my 07 MCS for about 3 weeks now. I have always owned Japanese cars prior to this. So I guess a few of my complaints are a result of my deviation away from standard Japanese automotive ergonomics and features. But there are a number of things about my MCS that annoy me to no end so far. (I didn't read the whole 32 page thread, so I'm guessing that some of these have been covered already...)
  • The rain gutters above the doors are useless. If there is water on the roof, it's going to pour into the car and on me if the car moves with the windows open.
  • The open door "catch" positions are very discrete, and the door slams closed in your face and/or leg if you happen to miss them.
  • Window switches on the center console
  • No engine temperature gauge on a turbocharged car?!?
  • Have to disable DSC system every time car is started.
  • Have to enable Sport mode every time car is started. (I usually remember to engage Sport only when I stall the car trying to leave my parking spot.)
  • Lack of sufficient side bolstering in seats.
  • Goofy, huge key/fob
  • Start/stop button (It was cool on my Honda S2000 11 years ago, but ENOUGH with the start buttons! And why do I have to press it again to stop the engine?)
  • Why is the audio on/off/volume button way down there in the no-mans-land of the center console?
  • Wheel bolts (as opposed to studs)
  • Run-flat tires
  • Goofy factory audio arrangement makes upgrading to a standard aftermarket head unit difficult and expensive.
Don't get me wrong - I've always wanted a 07+ MCS. And the car has really grown on me even more so since I bought it. I LOVE the driving dynamics of the car - So much so that it makes it easier to overlook most of the the quirks. It's just that so far, many of its unique design quirks have unfortunately been annoying to me as opposed to endearing.

Why are you disabling the DSC? I could understand if you are autocrossing, buy why kill a safety feature "every time the car is started?"

I understand the DSC setup. It's a multiplied issue in my lowered car, cause every time a front tire pics up just a tad, or hits an itty bitty patch of something slick like sand, it'll engage the DSC, jolt the car back and forth like you don't know how to drive a clutch, and takes a few seconds to get you going again, on top of any turbo lag you may have. God forbid you're trying to get out of someone's way, or yer own. A little wheel spin at least keeps you in a fwd motion and not kill yer throttle and/or apply brakes!

Exactly.

To me, the DSC isn't as much a safety feature as much as it is a source of potential unpredictability. I'd rather leave the control of the vehicle entirely in my hands as opposed to a computer that is attempting to use algorithms to divine my intentions and possibly countering and nullifying my own corrective actions.

Also, I do autocross and have been doing so for a decade. So I like to drive my cars on the street set up as closely to how I would drive them at an event for consistency.

Maybe I will give DSC a shot in the snow next winter and see how it does.

Psh, even in snow conditions, I don't like it. I'm trying to up a small hill, yet the whole traction control crap doesn't let my wheels spin to actually MOVE. Turn it all off, and I barely make it up on my one-wheel-wonder diff by spinning the tires in the snow. Just give me my LSD! All this electronic nannying is taking away the one thing that should've been installed before anyone shuts the door of their car: good drivers training. Like you said sarits, it just numbs the people who really want to DRIVE their car, and not commute.

Only advantage to all that stability control is when yer on the hwy and it snows and what not. But then really, by then, odds are you're going to fast for the conditions if you need that stuff. So I can see where there's a time and place for it, but my car governed by it is just all wrong IMO. And before anyone bash's me for this, yes, I AM looking at older cars these days.
