I have a week 2, 2008 MCS and here in NJ it was ~72F. Anyway a few minutes after my car sat in the garage, I came back out and noticed there were was a small puddle of windsheild washer fluid around each nozzle. It looked like it was continuing to ooze out. Never noticed this before, but it's never been this warm since I got the car.
I know this was an issue on 07 models, but I thought they had fixed it. Would the solution be the same for an '08 model?
My understanding from this forum is that has been happening since the first model year.I have experienced this on both my 05 and 07.Could be as simple as lowering the level to which it is filled.Q

Yup. Mine weeps too, there is some marring of the hood paint from whatever crazy-strong fluid they use from the factory. I can smell the stuff every time I use it.
funkdaddy, it's good to see that they didn't just screw up my car as our cars are the same production week. I looked under the hood and there is a check valve at the T where it splits left and right, but there isn't one right by the nozzles. I really thought MINI was supposed to have fixed this on late '07 and 08 models. Now I have some staining on my stripes from the windishield fluid. I'm gonna take it to Princeton on Monday.
Update: took the car to the dealer and they were aware of this issue, but just as surprised that MINI has not implemented this change on '08 MCS models. They installed the check valves inline with the nozzles and replaced my stripes.
If you have an '08 MCS and you find that your nozzles are weeping on warm days, you'll either have to take it in or drain the factory washer fluid and put in some off the shelf stuff. Word is that off the shelf fluid doesn't leak out the way the factory stuff does even w/o any check valves.
I informed my dealer about my weeping nozzles, as well as informing them about the service bulletin. The only service bulletin they could find was for the rear nozzle, but they couldn't find anything for the jets on the hood, even after I told them to look under a bulletin for the R53 (as the R56 info was apparently added to a pre-existing R53 bulletin). As they were unable to reproduce the problem, they sent me on my way and asked that if it happens again when I am close to the dealer I should bring it in.
