Engine Speed vs Vehicle Speed, MC & MCS

Would anybody know about this? I've seen some gear and final drive ratios in the brochure but I don't know off-hand how to do the calcs.

I am wondering if the MCS' engine spins slower than the MC, and something exact.

Perhaps a MCS tranny transplant into a MC would yield 45+ mpg.

Thanks.

Interesting question....not sure how easy a transplant would be. At 70 mph I'm at about 3K rpms.

That said I can get 40 mpg in my Cooper around town...it may be capable of 45 mpg on the highway!!!

easy calculation:

engine speed is a function of gear box ratio, final ratio and tire diameter...
look at the MPH vs RPM chart in the back of the owners' manual...

As for the calc. it self, its just a ratio, so, like in physics, write out the units, and mult. everything through so that the units make sence...

I didn't know the MINI's were so good on gas. I figured the MCS were geared so they could go faster and the MC so they had more zip. I don't have one yet, but probably will order one (MC) this week. I'll see if I can calculate them myself.
