How do you clean your stripes?

Just got done washing and waxing the Mini but have a problem with the black bonnet stripes. When I wax them it takes some of the oxidation off but I'm left with an uneven coloration, especially when compared to the stripes under the clearbra. So how do you clean your stripes to get that original look back?
