2007's MINI S/Shelby Cobra GT500 photo shoot

Here's the not so professional pics of the Hubby's and my cars together. Mine of course is the newly ordered 2007 Mini Cooper S that I named Shelby Jr. for obvious reasons. His car is the 2007 Ford Shelby Cobra GT500. We make a pretty interesting couple to say the least. We already have the neighbors talking. Both are fun cars to drive in their own rights. His Shelby has been modded with a JLT cool air intake, tune and pulley. He's now at 560 RWHP. Torque is at 540. He couldn't keep the tires planted on the street when it arrived stock with 500 HP at the motor. Now he's in need of stickier tires of course. He's also playing with the idea of a Kenny Belle supercharger. Can you say... When is the JW package coming out for the 2007 Mini? No, I'm happy with the Mini as is. One powerful beast in the family is enough. Remember, we live in Virginia, where they just passed the $3500 speeding tickets, fines, etc.:impatient

Here's some more...

I did my own mod to the Hubby's car with the HYBRID badge. It blew my mind how many people see it and question it like it's a real Hybrid. He catches a lot of crap about letting his wife even put the badge on his car. I have a great hubby and he knows I get a kick out of it.

My two favorite cars...
I tried to get a Mustang but my wife talked me into the second MCS. They fit better in the garage with our motorcycle and get better gas mileage.
I'd still like a Mustang though...

Nice wheels. I'd bar-b-que with you any time.

That didn't take very long did it? That KB blower upgrade will take that thing north of 650 rwhp, won't it? Lets see a dyno graph!

Very cool couple, those two !!

Say, when are you putting some boot stripes on that MINI ?!?! That would finish off the matching look very well, don't you think ?

By the way, you're not the only one that has neighbor's talking. Some of them talk about our cars to our face (and think we're nuts) and some talk about us behind our backs (actually heard a couple of them doing this). I think it's so funny, I often speak a little too loudly when asking my SO if the next one will be a Cool Blue Convertible or a Mellow Yellow Hardtop. Might as well give 'em somthing to talk about.

Nice! Great pictures of two great looking vehicles (cars).

I agree some 'boot stripes' for the MINI would finish off the sibs.

Now you will have to start doing some MINI mods just for the sake of keeping the big brother Cobra from getting to big in the britches.

1. Turbo back exhaust 10-15hp.

2. Lowering Springs for the rides on rails fast look.

3. Turbo upgrade (I imagine Alta has one in the works) for 300 WHP.

Then there would be absolutely not question the MINI rules.

All in fun, enjoy them as they are.

Very nice. However, I think you need to peal your stripes and put these on:

Thanks for all the wonderful comments. I was hoping that I wouldn't get anyone upset about playing off the GT500 a bit. We enjoy both cars. Yes, it's a his and her thing to a point. We both enjoy each other's cars as well. They both have there places in the family. Shelby Jr. even stole the garage right out from under Dad while he was out taking a drive. Pic at the bottom of this post.

I didn't want the boot stripes. I really want the double straight lines on the bonnet and boot. DH convinced me to get the bonnet stripes as pictured. I just may change that soon.

There's that stripes issue again. I may be changing them soon. Shelby Jr. may need to look a bit more like Dad.

Yes, this was more in line with what I thought I wanted. The DH talked me out of it and into what we have. Like I posted above, Shelby Jr. may just need to take on a change to look a little more like Dad.

Cool!! for both.

Yeah, Shelby style boot and bonnet stripes on the MCS would be cool.

Now if you can just talk hubby into painting the Mustang's roof white....

Yeah right! Not that he'd even think about it, but he'd surely be laughed right off of his GT500 forum. They would disown him for sure.

And honestly, I can't say I'd blame them. The Mustang would look hideous with a different color roof. It would be a ballsy statement, however.

Looking at the two cars side-by-side again, I've gotta say that it would look totally cool to remove the factory bonnet stripes and replace them with some wide, closely spaced, no black edge, white Shelby stripes - just like on the GT500 and down the bumper too.

Who, me? Before I got my MCS, I drove a RED car for ten years. I wanted something different, and I like yellow cars. Otherwise, I likely would have gotten a CR/W car.

Now our Mustang is of no comparison to yours, but the top DOES go down when it's nice here in Virginia. I can't wait to meet you guys sometime soon at an HR Mini event!

There ya go! Now, I'd really like to see an '07 MCS painted Legend Lime with a black roof and mirrors. It would look haaaawt.

Oh I agree 100%... the day mini makes a nice lime green mini is the day I'm selling mine. Of course... maybe I'll just buy the green for daily fun and autocross the snot out of mine at that point. lol.

I think the toughest part is that I really would love to do some fun things to the Mustang (v-6 SC kit, suspension upgrades, wheels/tires) but the Mini tends to suck up all the funds, since it's my car, and the wife could care less! lol.

Now, if they just made a GT500 in mellow yellow I'd be set. Those are both great cars. Good luck with them.

I think even with the JCW, the MINI would only be up to about the hp of the Shelby's starter motor. I think I'd lay low on the hp race at your house.
