Hazy white spots in rear window

I have these hazy white spots on my rear window. I've noticed them on a lot of BMW's but not on any Mini's. I've heard they are from some type of UV coating put on windows. Is that true? Why am I not seeing these same spots on every Mini on the road?

Are you looking at the window through polarized sun glasses? If so, this is why you are seeing this.

If this is happening without polarized sunglasses, is it a defect? Should I concerned? I really hate the look of it.

I assume by moniker that you can see them without the polariods on, have your dealer check it out. Sounds like a defect.

I think it's a characteristic of tempered/polarized glass. I see it on almost every cars rear window.

Are you talking about this: http://www.fi.muni.cz/~kas/blog/car-window-polarized.jpg

Yes that is it. Thanks for the photo. I've really never noticed it before on Mini's but I have seen it on other cars. An I the only one bothered by the spots?
