Yeh, this comes up once in a while.

http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...haust+tip+burn

Personally, I feel more burned by my government that I do my Mini. But that's another story.

what were you doing hanging onto the MINI while it was moving? Doesn't that make driving it more complicated than it needs to be?

07 S Exhaust Burn

Just curious to know if anyone has contacted MINI regarding the 07 S exhuast. My daughter received a serious burn, and MINI claims that I am the first person to report a burn from the exhaust. The exhaust really is located right where you have to stand when retrieving something from the back. It is hard to avoid contact, especially for a short person.

Ouch!!! That last picture looks painful.

My 13 year old son was helping me unload the back and was branded by the Mini about two weeks ago. I had warned all the family upon reading this thread awhile back, but it happened anyway. I told him about the suggestion here about burning in two eye balls and having a smiley face. He wasn't amused.

So -- not having my mini yet... I saw a mention of a set screw for adjustment...

Is it possible to move the tip in enough that you can't easily lean and hit your leg on it?

And if you can, does it look stupid once you have?

I burned my leg a few weeks ago, looks similar the the crescent moon shaped burn in the previous post. I doubt it will happen again, it hurt like a mean beech. I will remember it.

So, now when you're at the beach or the pool, and you see someone with a half circle or crescent moon scar on their leg.. you know where they got it!

PLEASE, please please please...

if this has happened to you report it at the NTHSA web site..... Mini can tell everyone who phones them "we don't know what you're talking about" but they can't hide from the US gov! Photos like the one posted above will get the attention of the feds, and they will demand the attention of MINI. But only if complaints are filed with them...

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/pr...callsearch.cfm

Click on the "file a complaint" link to the left of the page. Also, phone in so you can submit the photos of the burns. Nothing screams "this needs attention" like the actual burn photo.

What would you suggest..

if your child came in with a burn like some of the ones show. Litigation exists for a reason. To protect our rights. It's a GOOD thing..... The abuse of litigation is what should be steaming your shorts.

Personally, I think Mini screwed the pooch here. If I were a lawyer in the Mini USA and saw those photos, I'd do something pronto! This is just a class action waiting for a lawyer. And the class would win.

Wait till it's one of your loved ones, or it's one of your buddies (passenger not owner). If you're nice, when their pants are ruined by this and they've helped you load your car, you'll buy them a new pair. What smiley would be good for that one?
