Best Sunshade?

I wonder if I should get the Mini sunshade for $50 or there is something better that you guys can recommend. Thank you all.

I know it's pricey, but I do like the MINI sunshade. It fills up the windshield perfectly, the visors do a good job of holding it in place (even the shorter visors on the cabrio), and it has a vinyl case/sleeve to keep it from getting dirty (even if the sleeve *does* look like something sewn together by a first-year home-ec student).

Yeah, I'd have to agree, get the MINI shade. I used a generic for a while but it just didn't fit right. Besides the official version has the MINI logo on it so people will know whats behind the shade.

I debated on getting the minishade but just couldn't justify the $50 - plus I didn't want to wait til monday since I've had SheRa for 5 days already without protection . I did manage to find a shade at PepBoys today that fits pretty well (not sure how well compared to the minishade). It cost me $9 and it's reversible with Silver and White and of course I'll probably have it on the white side to match SheRa even though it is not true PW in color. You might want to try both and see which one suits you better. The back of the package specifically says it fits the MCS (can't upload that pic for some reason) but I do have a pic of the front of the package...sorry, not going outside at 3am to take a pic of the shade in the car but if you want to see it let me know and I'll take pics tomorrow so you can see the fit.

I got the Mini shade and really like it. Definately made to last. I have had the off brand shades and they just never quite fit rigght, nor do they last long.

And it does not shed lint!! WOOT!

I've got my second MINI sunshade...I'm especially impressed w/ the new one as it fits somewhat better than my '03 sunshade did. The paper laminant does give out with time at the accordian folds (after four years or so) but it was still worth the money...so I got another one for my '07.

I've got the MINI sunshade also. Fits the windshield nicely and when not in use it stores great behind the seat.

You can get the MINI sunshade HERE for only $38! I've already got one ordered so my MINI will be protected from day 1.

Yes, I have the sunshade as well as the front and rear sunroof shades. All work great and fit perfectly. I highly recommend them.

I've had many shades. The ones I've been happy with are the foam/cardboard backed shades like the MINI shade. Next are the two ring-shaped things that fold up like magic.

That looks a lot like the one I bought for my Acura. After 18 years it is still good.

I'm not a fan of the stiff accordian shade. I would like something that folds up smaller. Know where I can get one?

Thanks for the Stratmosphere shade link. I think it might be a better shade than Mini sunshade. The reason I say that is I just got a BMW sunshade for my 525i that looks a lot like the Mini shade. It's light silver card board that heat up very quickly. I think the Stratmosphere reflective silver just make more sense to block light and not get too hot. Thank you Darksilversurfer.

The stratmosphere shade rolls up and has a Velcro closure.

Yes, I have those two ring-shaped ones that fold up like magic. They work great because you don't have to use the sun visors to hold them in. I'm not a fan of having to fold down the sun visors every time you want to use the sun shade. I'm thinking over time this will wear out the sun visors and cause them to get loose. Maybe it's just me.

I bought a boot mat from Morristown and it was the same thing. It kept saying the order was being processed, but it turned out it was already on its way. They just never updated their online system, nor sent out a confirmation email saying it had been shipped.

My memory was that it shipped out in five days or so after I ordered it online.

I bought one in 91 for a CRX and it's still in great shape. It has UVS 100 on the label...I thought I saw one of the vendors carries them for the Mini.

I am currently an owner of a 2003 Mini Cooper S, fully equip with all the bells and whistles and best of all it has the dual glass sunroof. I live in Viva Las Vegas and with our excruciating 115 degree heat my poor Mini Cooper has a difficult time keeping the cabin cold with the A/C. This is due to the fact that the Mini Cooper's sunroof is only equip with a see through mesh screen, rather than a solid screen, used to cover up the cabin from the sun.

By now I am entirely fed up with my sunroof, so I went online searching for some kind of sunroof sunshade to protect my interior, and I was only able to find 2 companies that produce a good quality sun shade.

Company #1:
http://www.stratmosphere.com/mini_interior.htm

Company #2:
http://zippeegear.com/

They both look like very good quality products, but I'd like to hear some reviews of which one is better. Has anyone here on this blog done any comparison and/or owned either one of these sun shades? So far I am leaning towards the Zippee one, since it looks very nice, and compliments the black trim of my sunroof. It also is made of that foldable material which I like a lot and priced a lot less than the Stratmosphere. Please let me know your opinion.

I have the Stratmosphere for the windshield and sunroofs; no issues or complaints. For me the best part of the Stratosphere design is that they can be rolled up or folded and stashed out of sight. Not being a rigid design is a plus to me. I clean them with plain old dish soap. Although I have had them for only a few months, they seem as if they will last a long time.

I also devised my own fitted sunshade from a huge Disney movie Cars sunshade that Statefarm gave away a few years ago. They're on eBay and require a crafty person to cut them down, refinish the edges, to acquire a really cool custom sunshade. There's a thread here on NAM and many Mini folks have done this. I haven't ran across anyone around me locally, or at any Mini events I've been to.

My $.02

I've had the OEM sunshade for several years and I really do not like it ~ mine is just a bit too short so I have to pop the sun visors out on my 04 S everytime to secure it to the window. And it flakes.

Anyone tried this shade? .... I am a BMW F1 fan.
