Anybody know where i can get official MINI dark silver touch up paint? I called classic MINI and they said this color was on a 5 month back order because they were not allowing it to be shipping into the country at the moment. something about it being a hazardous material. they have no clue when they will get more in. can anybody help me out, i have a nasty chip all the way to the metal and dont want to leave it for too long. thanks

I recently purchased an AutoSharp Dark Silver Metallic (MINI color #871) pen (unused) from www.autovisuals.com and subsequently changed car colors to MCS Sparkling Silver (a long story).
If you send me your address, I will send the pen to you (cost was $17.99) - for $10.00, which will pay for shipping
and packaging.
You should check out the Autovisuals website - they are are a good source for other materials.
We will be traveling for the Memorial Day weekend and return on May 31 - if you let me know tonight - I will try to mail you the pen before we depart tomorrow morning.

I have two touch-up paint colors on order from the dealer. Was told that they can't import into USA because of a labeling issue and with the contents of the paint. They told me it could be sometime before they would be able to sell it again.

They've been saying that for four years!!!!! (I suppose...haven't checked in between but that ws the same reason they gave for not having touch up paint four years ago.)

You could always use some clear to keep it from rusting until you get the correct color you need. If it's to the metal it will need several layers anyway.

I sure hope that it's not the contents, next they will be telling us that they can't import Cooper S's painted DS.
I have some MINI #871 Dark Silver Metallic touch-up paint, part #51-91-0-301-878. It's a two-pack, with a bottle of Laquer as well.
One thing I will add... at least when it comes to my 2007 R56: It's too dark! It doesn't match the Dark Silver and actually makes the couple dings I touched up stand out even more! I ended up filling the dings with laquer only and now you can't see then unless you know exactly where to look.
So as for the "official" MINI touch-up paint? SKIP IT!!!
