I just called around a couple of places to get quotes and hear about what they use for tinting. I'm looking for some feedback from you guys before I make a decision. I called a guy who does the tinting for the MINI dealer and he uses Llumar, don't think it's a computer cut and charges me $159 w/ lifetime warranty. The next best option is a guy who works out of his house and tinted a friend's MINI and did a great job. He has been tinting windows since 88 so while he does not have a shop, he seems pretty reliable and gives me a good vibe. His quote is much lower because he has no overhead, $85, no computer cut and uses Madico w/ lifetime warranty as well.
I guess the question is, if I'm planning on keeping the car for about 5 years (plans of course might change, but that's what it is for now), would the higher cost of Llumar be justified? If I can save the money, I'd rather go that route, but would like the best for my MINI. Any thoughts? What would you do?
Thanks in advance

Maybe it's because I'm a poor college student but I'd go with the $85 tint. If anything happens you have a warranty still and if something does happen to where you're unhappy with the result (I don't know what) then it's not a major loss. I would jump on that in a second if it were here!

Hey thanks. I just graduated from law school so money is definitely tight on this end as well I'm leaning towards that for sure. Just wanted some thoughts. You make a very good point about it not being a major loss if anything were to go wrong which I doubt, but it's something I hadn't thought about. Thanks again

Yep! I paid $250 to get my old Grand Am windows tinted because they counted the small 1/4 windows in the rear as full. That was with a family friend discount. It's crazy but the only place within 50 miles.
get lifetime warrenty. i got my 18% done at a shop, suntech, and the warrenty covers any bubble cracks or anything, as long as you have the car, but it ends if you sell the car.
