I dunno, man, station wagons pretty much look like station wagons. Even the goofy old Saab ones with the three cylinder two stroke engines. Only the proportions and details really differ in appearance.

I wouldn't doubt that they took some styling cues from MINI. Even the reporter said, "The crossover-estate-type-thing’s available Mini-esque roof treatment will certainly set a few tongues wagging".
I think it looks quite good. It certainly looks better than most of the cars it is competing with (Pacifica, Murano, Mercedes R350, etc.). If they stole some of the looks from MINI, good for them, it shows they've got some taste. Generally though the car also echoes something of the aesthetic of old 1960's Fairlanes and Galaxy 500's, with its squared-off ends.
Obviously its huge and I wouldn't even contemplate driving something that size unless I had a very good reason. (Unfortunately most Americans don't seem to share this logic.)
I thought the same thing when I saw the pics. The white roof with chrome trim line surrounding the bottom of the greenhouse is very MINI. Overall Ford Flex is pretty nasty looking though. I wish Ford would get their **** together like GM has in past year.
The FJ is ALOT uglier than that Flex, although the Flex is nothing our family would consider My wife opted for the CX-7 and she loves it! I've always thought the FJ looks like a Lego car, look at how things just either stick out or are generally out of place!
THe FJ is a joke of a vehicle...all that wasted sheet metal :( and precious resources

This is actually a very ugly car... Altho better than many other American "Cars". They must be trying really hard to design these big ugly things... or else I can't think of a logical reason for them to have a full line up of ugly cars.
Maybe Americans are just not as good as to designing cars(no offence), look what Chris Bangle did... the only "ok" looking car was the 5 series... lol...
Maybe Ford/GM should hire Europeans to design cars for them.
"Maybe Ford/GM should hire Europeans to design cars for them." or even better ,bring the good looking designs of the Euro porduct to us. A great example is the new Ford Mondeo-it is very nice looking, heck it was in the last Bond flick! Ford needs a mainstream car to save their bacon and the Mondeo is not only great looking-it's a great size, has good performance and handling and would be cheaper to tool up to build an existing design than the start from scratch.
Yeah, I've always thought the newer SUV's are nothing more than station wagons on steroids. It's nice to see "real" station wagons on the road, they're safer and IMO better looking.
