Colorized 2007 Traveller Concept

Just some quick photoshop work to see what the concept would look like with some color added (I know they aren't perfect, but bear with me). Personally, I think the addition of some color contrast helps it out quite a bit.

EDIT: new variations added

Great job and it does help to see it in other colors...

I like the design...the transitions are smooth and overall I think it is put together well. I just hope it performs as well as my 05 MCS.

How about a CR/CR with black accents?!

I just added a few more. I'll work on better black accents, but for now that's a quick CR/CR with black stripes version for you.

This definately adds a new perspective to what was shown. If anything I think these make the concept car more interesting.

You've also shown me that I don't like the trim around the rear doors in black.

The MINI-gods will smite them for this design.
Not a big fan. It looks like a really little SUV. Ick...
What is distasteful to me is the quantity of line segments on the body work. Too many joints. It looks too designed, too put together. The MINI should look simple and elegant. The colors do help visualize the final product. Though, I would stick with the '06 and older variety.
Of couse, it is just a concept.

Color helps with some of them. Good job adding the color.

I still don't know if I like the design of the MINI Wagon. I'm more interested in seeing what happens to the MINI Cooper.

I think the colors actually make it look LARGER! I'm still not buying it as a design work - it has too many parts that simply don't flow together. Obviously thing like the lack of a B pillar would not make production, and from the look in the pics, that's a good thing.

The only two things I actually do like and thankfully WILL be production are the grill design and conceiled wipers. I really like the look.

Yeah, no kidding. It's not clear to me how far the black would extend down the C pillar (i.e. to the bottom of the window, to the bottom of the hinged section, or all the way down and around the bottom of the door). I did it a couple different ways and honestly, in black it just looks out of proportion.

Hopefully tonight I'll get some time to do that one.

Thanks. That is the MINI color combination I would have liked to have ordered if MINI had more colors and would offer hot orange on the hardtops.

Good job. I like the way you "colored in" the headlights. Makes them look less Pomeranian like!

Looks too much like the X3, and too little like a MINI

Great work, but IMO nice coloration cannot compensate for a design that evokes the ugly X3 imagery more than pure MINI.

It is a design study for a new body style of MINI called the Travler (a longer wheel base MINI wagon). There are elements that will be carried over to the COOPER/COOPER S, but this is not a straight up preview of the COOPER / COOPER S. It's just a design study to help look for alternative solutions and flesh out the form more.

More photos and the news story on MotoringFile

There is also an on going discussion of the concept itself on NAM. This thread was just done to show the impact of color on the concept.

Nice job DiD. I dunno about the designs though. I think it's a step in the right direction for a longer wheelbase MINI, but right now, it looks too much like a counterfeit MINI!!

Like the HHR--which looks like a larger PT Cruiser

I hope this stays as a concept

Otherwise, it will go down as the Mini 2007 version of a Pacer! Barf!!

Slightly OT, I saw a ton of those things at the race in Richmond this past weekend (sponsored by Chevrolet) and they are pretty ugly IMO.

What's the thing over the front wheel arch?

Although, in some colors looks like the Smart ForFour. :impatient
