New to me 09 jcw

New to the site and to mini. I traded in my 2010 camaro 2ss for an 09 clubman jcw. When I was testing it the bov went out. They are sending it to mini to have it fixed. Is that common around 55k miles? Just curious. Like I said, I'm very new to mini. I appreciate the help and I'll be posting a lot when I get it!

This may be a dumb question but....is this the same as the waste gate? I went into a reduced power mode-engine slash warning light situation at the track. Dealer pulled an error code about waste gate, said they can go. I'm also at 55K. Welcome, I'm sure you'll have lots of fun with the car-and of course pics when you can.

It's not the same. But the actually said it was some electrical component that deals with the boost. Hopefully I will have it today or tomorrow!

Good luck with the car, in my case I would consider it a warning sign and buy a different car. That maybe my paranoia, you should consider a pre purchase inspection.

The BOV has a rubber diaphragm in it and the rubber can go any time. My '09 S BOV was still good when I checked it at 151,000 (mostly highway) miles.

I got the car. It was a sensor that was out. Mini inspected it and it looked good besides that. The clutch and brakes are a few months old which is good. I love the car so far and the gas mileage is like night and day.

That's the only photo I have at the moment. It's dirty but I work long hours. I'll post some better ones on Monday!

Did the dealer check the timing belt? Make sure it has been replaced recently with the latest parts. Watch out for any cold start rattling, as that is a sign the timing belt is about to go. Otherwise, enjoy the JCW, they're a blast!

Unfortunately no MINI's come standard with xenon's, halogens are standard equipment and Xenon's are an extra $500 (I think). For the top tier trim, you'd think they'd throw in some extra goodies like that standard.
