2011 Clubman S Muffler Delete

Like the title this is about a muffle delete on my clubman S.

Unfortunately there aren't a lot of cheap options for an exhaust for us clubby owners. So I figured I'd try a muffler delete instead of dropping anywhere from 1 - 1.4k on a full exhaust or a axle back. Best $40 I've sent on my mini so far.

Stock - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-c...ew?usp=sharing

Muffler Delete - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-c...ew?usp=sharing

Edit 9/27

Alright, so on Friday I got a Riss Racing DP installed and wanted to update you guys on the new sound. So far with the muffler delete and DP it has been less than half the cost of a brand new exhaust. I'm in love with how the car sounds right now and I've been getting compliments all weekend wherever I go. I don't think I've heard any aftermarket exhaust for the Clubman that sound anything like this. I'd also like to add that after about 200 miles I did get the CEL and yes I did miss 3rd gear in the tunnel -.-

Let me know what you guys think!

Wow, yours pops a lot more than my 2011 - muffler or not. I'm not sure I could live without a muffler for very long.

The popping gets a lot of attention and my neighbors aren't fans of it. But surprisingly the car isn't unpleasantly loud unless you're at WOT.

I think I really need to do this to my 09 JCW when its fixed. (some *** holes threw bottles at it and dinted my roof and smashed the sunroof, won't be fixed until July under insurance)

Nice sound

How did you do the muffler delete? Did you go to a shop to get it done? I have an 09 JCW and I believe my system is a one piece exhaust. How did you do it?

You are correct about the limited options on a good clubman catback exhaust but all that popping doesn't sound all that great. Do you get any drone at certain rpm's? I bet once the novelty wears off you'll be back in search of something quieter.

+1

That drone is going to suck on the highway.

There's not much drone at all, I'll try and make a video of it and upload it for you guys. And all I had done was the pipe cut before and after the exhaust and have a straight pipe welded in place. As for the popping, whenever I run the car hard it'll pop like in the sound clip.

I'm looking at electronic bypass valves to have muffler or straight pipe at a flip of switch. Great option for when you want to play or nice drive through city.

There is a Milltek ( one of the few for the Clubman ) option and with high flow cat it burbles and pops pretty good once warmed up. Non Res if you want to be louder.

No drone at highway speed either.

Free shipping also for a limited time.

I deleted my mufflers, 2nd cat and res and installed the aero turbine muffler, no drone but my pops in sport mode are annoying and I don't leave in sport mode because of that , and the gas mpg suck on an auto. But the sound on throttle and the rumble at idle is sweet. $300 total for muffler and muffler shop work, money in the bank.

Ok I listened to your audio, mine does NOTHING like that, only a few pops on decel in sport mode only. Yours sounds like you have a straight pipe from turbo ? Are you catless ?
Ok I hear the same thing in your before audio, sounds like you got issues or running catless or have a leak somewhere

I guess my aero turbine must be doing alot more muffling than I thought.

I actually got my idea from your custom exhaust. I liked how it sounded without the mufflers and settled at that for the time being.
All I've done to the car is Intercooler, JB+, and the muffler delete.
I've only had the car for 3 months and I've taken my car to the dealer twice (Still have original warranty so wanted to get it checked and had to get a new HPFP)

So you still got 2nd cat and res ? Mine never pops on accel , guess that muffler is on the right spot then, since there are atleast 2 of us with the same setup and no popping like you got.

Yes sir, 2nd cat and res are still in place.
There's a few minis where I live and they don't pop as loud as mine. Including 2 JCWs with some bolt on.
I usually go for late night drives and I've had cops tail me for miles due to the popping. Kinda annoying but whatever.

It only pops when I let off. I've never had it pop when I accelerate.

Yes, pop on accel at first is a missfire.

how about 2.5 inch exhaust, catless MarioKart DP, into fJCW mufflers?

we turned down the pops a bit on my tune, at the time of the video it was popping even with sport mode off. Sounded AWESOME, but like, you know, for the track.

Holy crap, mine will pop like that every once in a while but constantly having it popping like that is crazy. I love it.

That doesnt sound wrong, but also not right? That popping on a OE exhaust. My car is derestricted and have zero popping. Truth is the exhausts are very derestricted so itll be last on the list. I look forward to the car sounding more spirited...
