Darker 3rd Brake Light Option?

I have a R55 S and the 3rd break light is clear and just looks garish against the black trim that it is inset to. Does anyone know of any replacement options for a smoke version, or darker version that would blend better?

Thanks in advance!

The only option is the other OEM unit which has a red lens instead of the clear. You could always tint it yourself with tint film made for automotive lamp lenses or the spray tint called nite-shades.

Why darken the 3rd brake light, that is a life saver on a Mini being so low.

The other con to this, is that if you get rear ended, the other person can always blame your tinted 3rd brake light as being hard to see. Thus putting the accident responsibility on you.

Third brake Light

I have a non S and swapped out the red for the clear/white S lights. Very easy to do. The red does actually look better than the white on a black roof.

That's a good idea and might be something I do. Still on the fence about it.

I don't want to darken the entire surface, just the part that doesn't light up. Going with red might be a good match.

Thanks for the idea!
