2011 Clubby S purchasing ?
So I'm looking to buy my 2nd MINI (1st was a 2008 MCS sold in 2010) and I found a used Clubman that I would like to move on. After reading several threads about the engine issues these cars are having, I'm thinking twice.
The car I'm looking at is a 2011 Clubman S with 29k miles on it. It has the reminder of the warranty through May of 2015, the maintenance package through 100k. It is priced fairly. I test drove the car over the weekend and it ran smoothly without any issues. I also test drove a new Countryman ALL4 but didn't like it as well as the Clubman. Anyway,my biggest question I guess I have is should I jump on the extended warranty (which is kinda pricey) or not? And of course any other advice for buying a used Clubman S?
Thanks!

I just traded my problematic 2010 Clubman S for a 2012 Clubman S. Night and day difference and it has only been a couple of months having it (Sept 2014). I negotiated the price of the maintenance plan but the extended warrantee came with it as a CPO. My gut feeling is that you'd be very happy with the 2011 and improved reliability over the previous N14's.

Before you buy any extended warranty get a copy of the contract and read every word. There are many that are full of exclusions. I just read one that required the vehicle be returned to the dealer that sold the car for any covered repairs and copies of receipts for all scheduled maintenance would be required or coverage could be denied. I had a shop tell me this week they had a customer come in with a bad motor. The warranty company told his customer that they cover engines, but he would have to pay out of pocket to have the oil pan dropped to determine the cause of the failure and if they covered the engine they would reimburse him. Warrantees backed by the manufacturer are the best.
