I just got a Cooper S Clubman and was thinking of the same upgrade. From the Turbo to the IC there is a 'muffler' that can slow /restrict airflow. The selling point of the ALTA is that it does away with this muffler. On closer inspection of mine though, the soft tubes connect to the muffler with hose clamps on either side. I'd hate to think that you could do a muffler delete using a 8" long piece of pipe for about $10 vs $130 for the ALTA.

I have one....great fit. No issues whatsoever. I'm sure you'll like it.

Installed yet? How much of a noise difference is there?

There's an odd curve in the boost tube, so essentially you could just buy a cheaper tube, but you'd have to do a decent amount of bending.

I have the boost tube, fairly easy to install (the muffler built into the stock tube is bolted to the inside of what looked like the bumper or fender, tight squeeze to reach it but do-able) and does make a difference in the turbo sound. Worth the money to me.

What I'm talking about is just replacing the muffler with a straight piece of pipe. The current boost tubes would be re-used. I'll probably do it this weekend and make a little DIY.

So I finally did the install. While on vacation, I picked up a K&N Intake and Upgraded Intercooler..

The difference now is outstanding. I am very impressed, needless to say. The down side is I did the install all at the same time, so not sure what difference the Alta Tube makes. So much more air moving in and out.
