When getting my MINI, i did not expect passengers since i'm just 20 without a family and my friends drive too. But it comes to find out i have people in the backseat almost EVERY OTHER DAY, but they never complain; they're usually about 5'8" to 5'11" in height (im shortest among my friends 5'5" ). They always beg to carpool with me instead of all of us slipping into their 4 door sedans, it's a mystery to me.
So if your family consists of 4 or less, without car seats, i'd GO FOR the regular hatchback!
Sounds like your friends/coworkers are getting the MINI fever as well!
That or they figure you get way better millage than they do so they are being cheap on gas

I forgot and left my sunroof in the Vent mode (Just the back edge up) and it rained hard but not windy and only a few drops on the seat. the Sunroof must have some form of concealed gutter.I learned a lesson but not as bad as sian421. Ouch sorry, glad to hear Insurance did what was right.
Yes, it has a gutter all the way around and a drain tube at each corner.
Full tilt won't work for parking as a rain can blow in if the wind/driven rain blows toward the front.
A slight tilt (without lower edge exposed) will still vent a parked MINI and no rain will get in.
