SPORT button

I own a MT 2008 MCC...(non turbo). I have used the SPORT button several times. I recall in the manual that it is supposed to make steering and throttle response better. Does anyone know more about this?

You should be able to discern the differences yourself pretty easily. The throttle response is the easiest to tell. Just pay attention between the two modes.

I don't know what else to tell you except that the throttle response is much quicker when in sport mode. (Sensitive might be another word.) I have never been able to tell much difference with the steering. But then again I have not really paid much attention to that attribute.

Steering wheel should feel slightly stiffer than non sport mode, not a big difference but it is there.

yep it makes the steering wheel a little "tighter" feeling. It makes it more responsive (less correction needed when carving up roads).

With your MC non-turbo you may have the OEM 15" wheels. If so then the larger Tyre sidewall area will minimize the effect of the 'Sport' profile feed back due to sidewall flex of the higher profile tyre. Remember that the steering is all electric and the feel back is programed. From the steering rack out, the responsiveness is all in the tyre and its sidewall profile. The 'S' cars came with at least 16" wheels and many 'S' people opted for the 17" and beyond. All of which have lower profiles and less sidewall flex.

I have the 16 wheels.

I do feel a tightness in the steering and better throttle response, the latter esp from a dead start, with the SPORT button. Amazing. Why did they make it optional. LOL

I love my Sport mode, but use it sparingly to extend time between services (maybe I'm being naive) and to maintain the feeling I get in the seat of my pants when using it If I used it all the time, it would start to feel normal.

Unfortunately when I bought my Clubman, it was 1 year old and wasn't an S. Was too good a deal to pass on, so I grabbed it. Sure am glad he opted for the Sport package with 17" wheels (along with leather, bluetooth, rain sensor, convenience entry etc. etc. etc. etc.) All options on the car, the cost of which would have covered going to an S.

Maybe I should trade it in ;) and buy a stripped down S...
