Help on Warning Lamp

2008 Clubman, yesterday the brake light came on over the steering wheel and stayed on. I know what that means, but now everytime I start the car I get a red mini on a lift over the steering wheel, goes off a few seconds but can't find what this light means-again it's a mini on what appears to be a mechanics lift...

Having jacked with auto's most all of my life, I would venture to say that it's telling you the Computer has stored a fault code, and get thee to the shop.

If your red brake light(the word brake) stays on and you have a red MINI icon on a lift when you startup then it's just reminding you that your brake wear sensors are tripped and you need a brake job. The dealer will reset the lights or you can do it yourself if you plan on doing your own brakes.

Ditto

This same issue happened to me just today. I'm glad I found this thread to confirm my suspicions. I hope to get an appointment for this Friday when I'm off work. Will that be ok? I only work ~5 miles from home and that will be the bulk of my driving for this week.
