I took a drive from Long Island to South Jersey and back yesterday, 115 miles each way, in the Mini. I started out with nasty traffic on the Belt Parkway and horrible traffic on Staten Island. Once I got the NJ, I rolled it up to 80 to 85 for a while while riding along with a CooperS Convertible. Then I slowed to a reasonable 70 to 75 the rest of the way. Coming back was nice, 70 to 75 all the way back up the Garden State Parkway, total misery on Staten Island, then a nice clear ride around 50 all the way along the Belt. I didn't baby it but mostly rode nice and steady, had to punch it once or twice though.
Smiling all the way.
When I got home I found that I got 40.8 mpg, NICE!
